KrazyT Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 My first PTR, here it goes... Busch Gardens Tampa Bay One of my monthly trips to BGT... The day started with a long drive up to Tampa Bay, as we arrived, we I was welcomed by the sight of, none other than, Montu. As i started to pull into the parking lot, and i decided to spend the 4 extra dollars to get preffered parking. The park was not empty, but not full either, so i had an enjoyable time. The first ride of the day was Gwazi. I enjoyed the lion side of the ride, but as i decided to re-ride on tiger, (BIG MISTAKE!), i found out that it was as rough as ever! It was horrible, it was non-stop vibrations all over the ride. After that near-death experience, i headed for Shakira. This ride (opposed to the tiger side of Gwazi) was as smooth as ever... The drop is still amazing, airtime was awesome as well. With only a 15 minute wait, i decided to re-ride 2 more times before i headed for congo. As entering congo, i headed right for Kumba, as it is one of my favorite rides in the park. Kumba's new paint job made the ride even better. Ride was awesome as always, and i headed for the Skyride. As i got off the skyride, i headed right for Montu. The wait was about 10 minutes, so i decided to wait for the front row. This ride was a bit rough, it had a little head banging here and there, but other than that it was awesome. My second ride was a bit rougher, as i sat in the back row, but good overall. Then, i headed for Shakira (Yes, again...), for a final ride of the day (as the sun was setting), and sat in the back row, last seat on the right (my favorite seat of the row...) airtime was unbelieveable, and the headchopper coming out of the immelman was incredible, i never get tired of that ride! After Shakira, i headed for a last ride on Gwazi, and i made sure to go on the lion side! This ride was much better than the one in the morning, because it was getting dark, there was a slight breeze, so it made it that much better. A Final shot of Montu ends my PTR More Montuness (lol) In case you haven't seen the drop... More Gwazi (the good side...) More immelmans... Montu-goodness! Its Kumba Time! Have i shown you the drop yet? The Immelman The Awesome Drop More SheiKra shots... Then off to SheiKra First ride of the day, Gwazi (bad side...) Greeted by Montu
Ed Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 I love that picture of Kumba in that odd bit of track! And i'm always amazed by Skeikra's size. It's so much bigger than Oblivion looks. And the immelman is just whopping!
rollermonkey Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Kumba, quite possibly my #1 most desired reride.
coasterboi Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Horray for Montu that is definately my second favourate B&M but my fave is alpengist(I think thats how you spell it )
memphish Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 I'd go ghey for Kumba. I don't know why, but everytime I go down there Montu just can't do it for me the way Kumba does.
Shockwave Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 How time flies! I might just be riding Kumba in exactly 4 weeks time. I'm just a little excited! Thanks for the photos!
robinschroder Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Those are some superfine pictures! When I went to BGT many years ago, out of all of those coasters Kumba was the only one standing - but it was fantastic! (I think Montu was under construction that year)
SuperGreek1562 Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Nice TR. Very nice pictures. I especially like the shots of SheiKra's drop. Glad to see you had fun. I am hoping to get back there asap. As it comes to Kumba or Montu. I think I like them both equally. Or maybe Kumba a little bit more.
Mr. Volcano Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Ohhh!! Kumba got painted! It's about time, I was starting to think that ride would sit there and rust forever! I mean you could actually start to see the metal on some of the corkscrews from the rusted paint, it's good to know they did something to touch it up. Anyways, it sounds like you had a good trip, I'm glad you liked SheiKra, its a pretty cool ride and I agree that the first drop is really amazing, and surprisingly one of the more intense drops out there (Right up there with Millennium force). -Justin
TwistedTrack Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I am hopefully going to BGT in June. I cnat wait to ride all the B&M's there. Mainly Kumba, everybody seems to like it so much.
