Skyscraper Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Hi everybody ! My boyfriend and I are going in L.A. for a last weekend gateway before our return in Canada. We've been at Magic Mountain 8 times since April 2005, it's probably my favorite park now. Unfortunately, X was open only on 3 of our 8 visits. We rode it 2 times (I'm not crazy about 1h+ lines). I'm planning to run to X at the opening but I don't know which coasters to do next (I would really like to ride everything, especially Deja Vu). If X is closed (please no high winds this time!), what should I do ? What strategy is the best ? We will be hitting Knott's berry farm on saturday morning and Disneyland in the evening. Maybe Adventure City in the afternoon to get some credits... Any advice is welcome ! Thanks you very much !
SharkTums Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Get there early, run to X, right after you get on X go straight to Deja Vu. (The back path is now open again so it's not too far). After Vu hit Riddlers and other stuff. There might be some cheerleading thing going on, but it should be VERY easy to get on X and Vu before noon.
Skyscraper Posted February 10, 2006 Author Posted February 10, 2006 Thanks you Elissa (I think this is you...if not sorry lol). Do you know if Ninja is open ? I love this fun ride ! The cheerleader contest is next weekend ! Crowds won't be bad (I think).
SharkTums Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Ninja has been open recently, but not with the park. The weather is still supposed to be warm this weekend so it should be open, pending any Tatsu construction. Be warned, last weekend it was running One train! Boooo.
TheGreatOne Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Ninja has been open recently, but not with the park. The weather is still supposed to be warm this weekend so it should be open, pending any Tatsu construction. Be warned, last weekend it was running One train! Boooo. Yeah, Ninja opened a few hours after opening when I visited on January 6th. It was even posted on the "today's closed rides" sign at the gates. It was a nice surprise to see it open later in the day! It only ran one train, but it was a walk-on thanks to the low number of people. -Bryan "the walk up that hill is CRAZY" Wood
ebl Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 It's been windy around here, but I don't know if it will be on Sunday. I was at SFMM January 22, and Scream! was closed due to high winds. But it reopened before I left, so I got one ride on it. Ninja was closed, but it was rather cold that day so that wasn't a surprise. Have fun at SFMM...I'll be at the DLR with the girl and her man. Eric
Skyscraper Posted February 10, 2006 Author Posted February 10, 2006 I didn't know that Ninja can be closed due to the cold ! It seems that X and Deja Vu will be closed on sunday, high winds are predicted Thanks to all of you for your advices !
ebl Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 ^ If it's too cold, the bearings on the wheels don't heat up enough and the trains could valley. At least that's what I've heard. Eric
rollermonkey Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 I have a picture of Fujiyama at home that I can upload that shows heat lamps along the sides of the tracks to keep the bearings warm in the station. It's pretty neat, plus it keeps the station warm too!
Skyscraper Posted February 13, 2006 Author Posted February 13, 2006 Hey Elissa it was great to see you ! Your the first celebrity I saw in California To continue our little talk, I had a very good day at the mountain with my boyfriend. X was close at the opening so we ran to Goliath, got on it 2 times with no lines. After Colossus (last time was backwards in October, it was surprisingly smooth!). Scream was a one train wait for the front, no wait in Batman. We went over Riddler's revenge, wait 4-5 train for the front row. Deja Vu was closed Didn't care to ride Psyclone, I don't like it. Ninja was running two trains (yeah !!!) with no wait at all for the front seat ! Superman was a 4 train wait for the second row. X was open, we went over there, 30 minutes in line with two train and we are in our seat (first row). Ouch... my third ride on this coaster but it never been so bumpy ! Loved it anyway... Viper was a walk-on and Log Jammer was a 5 min. wait ! We had such a great day at SFMM, too bad we are returning in Canada ! There's changes going on at the mountain ! Looney Tunes character near Log Jammer at the opening and others ones at the Revolution fountain. We even had some employees say : Have a great day ! Second best visit, I hope good changes will continue !
