robbalvey
Hey everyone! Well, we promised that with the upgrade to the new dedicated server would come new features to Theme Park Review.....and now we can deliver on that promise! Now YOU can upload YOUR coaster videos to the "Professional Amateur Videographer Forum" in the "Members Only" section of the board: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=9 And what better way to launch a new forum than to have a member submitted upload of the latest NEW coaster, Expedition Everest! Go check out Erik's onride footage of Animal Kingdom's new coaster and then start uploading YOUR videos too! Now you can post Video Trip Reports and well as Photo Trip Reports to Theme Park Review! On the old server we were limited to 10 megs per file for uploads, but now I can raise that limit so larger video files can be posted! Please be sure to read the rules of the forum before you upload your videos! We're pleased to be able to offer this additional feature at NO EXTRA COST! Enjoy! --Robb
darklingscribe
Great! Once I get POV footage from some coasters I'll be sure to post it there. Quick question though, since the rules thead in the Videographers forum is locked, I see that you have to upload the files zipped. Are there any free programs out there that will zip files for me? I'm running Mac OS X tiger on a G5.
robbalvey
Hmm...that's a good question. Wes? What about: MacZip Zip It --Robb
WillMontu
I've got some hilarous captures from the Discovery Channel, however I don't know if they could be posted because they have Paul Ruben (I think that alone could be a good reason) Severe Headbanging Discovery Channel style narration ("And we're at the top of the lift right now, and it's a big drop...") robbalvey
Here's a couple notes about posting videos to that thread. These videos should be YOUR videos. If you don't own the copyright to them, you probably shouldn't post them. The idea behind the forum is that so many people have asked us to host their coaster video segments, but we haven't had the bandwidth or ability to let people upload them due to our previous server's limitations. Now all those limitations have been lifted! We have a LOT of videographer's on this board who have created video segments over the the years and now you have a place to host them, rather than having to go to one of those limited storage sites that only let you download a certain amount of times, etc. --Robb
Wes
Hmm...that's a good question. Wes? What about: MacZip Zip It --Robb There's an even easier solution. Right click (or control+click if you're still running a one button mouse) on the file you want to zip up and then click Create Archive. It will automatically zip up the file and put it in the same folder as the movie. Easy as 1,2...there is no 3.
robbalvey
Another note about the new forum..... Just because the new forum exits doesn't mean you CAN'T upload smaller videos to the public forum. If you have a video larger than ~5 megs, it SHOULD go in the Professional Amateur Videographer forum. But if you have a small clip you want to add to your Photo TR, etc, it can still be posted in the public forum. The purpose for creating the forum is that, while we do have increased bandwidth capacity, we can't go crazy with it, so keeping all the larger files in the Members Only section does limit the amount of people who can download them, and thus, keeps our bandwidth useage to a reasonable level. But yeah, if you have a smaller file you want to post, you CAN post it in the public forum. --Robb
robbalvey
Wow, so that new forum has been up less than 12 hours and we already have like 10 videos posted! I hope you guys like the idea of having a video uploads section. This is something I wanted to do from day one along with being able to host everyone's photos, and I'm glad we're finally able to make that happen! --Robb "If it wasn't for all of YOU the site wouldn't be what it is today!" darklingscribe
Another quick Question for Robb about the Videographers board. I don't have any video's to post but I can I still start a topic in the forum? I just thought it would be nice to have a thread in which TPR members could request certain coaster POVs. robbalvey
I would rather keep that board for videos uploads ONLY. Otherwise it will just get cluttered with discussion on top of videos. --Robb
