DailyBugle_JL Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 im thinking about heading out to SoCal during my early spring break march 4-12. Any suggestions out there. MM is a must since i have to mark my territory somewhere in that park. Other than that i really dont know what else to do. My budget is pretty open right now.
ParkTrips Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Jeremy - If you can, spend a day or two in San Diego. Its beautiful down there. The beaches are really nice (even if the water is chilly). Belmont is a really small but charming little park, esp. at night. The Dipper is like $5 a ride and is fairly tame but provides a GREAT view. Sea World was cool too... I'd go there before hitting the San Diego Zoo (very overrated IMHO). Clyde and Seemore was enjoyable and the penguins, Shamu show and everything was just really cool. The rapids ride was great, second only to Popeye in my mind. They were still building JTA when I was there but Robb and elissa seemed to indicate it was kinda lame. I just loved all of the little beaches on the coast... I mean, I was out there 2 weeks in 2003 and only went to 3 parks Go to Tijuanna... it's so bad its awesome - Joe, who says "ask and you shall recieve" See ya soon.. sfog opens in less than 8 weeks
What Now Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Knott's Winter Coaster Solace is March 11. You might consider doing that if you are in the area during that time.
DailyBugle_JL Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 Just like last year i guessing ill fly out of town on that saturday, opening weekend @ SFOG, and get my season pass processed. Then Get magic mountain done with that sunday, hopefully its not crowded. Thanks for the Advice Ptrips aka Joe. ive never really thought about sight seeing. Uhh.... What now, what is winter solace. Im from the east coast and have no clue. Is it like the paramount parks winter fest or something.
SharkTums Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 ^It's a park sponsored ERT coaster enthusiast event at Knotts Berry Farm. If you're not from the area it's worth it! ERT on all the main coasters plus lunch.
What Now Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 ^^ You don't even need to be a Club member to attend. Usaully both Screamscape and Westcoaster have passes to let you in.
DailyBugle_JL Posted January 11, 2006 Author Posted January 11, 2006 ^How much will that cost? I need special tickets from screamscape or west coaster. What club is throwing the event. Thanks for the heads up you guys.
ParkTrips Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Dude you can get in with your ACE membership... and it's a park-sponsored event, which is why so many different groups have access so to say.
DailyBugle_JL Posted January 11, 2006 Author Posted January 11, 2006 Oh the park sponsors the event for enthusiast. not an enthusiast group sponsored event.
DailyBugle_JL Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 I have a couple of questions this time. WHats the closest airport to magic mountain How far apart are Knotts and Magic mountain, any decent ways of transportation? Can anyone recommend any good places to stay in both parks area? Do CedarFair passes work at all parks? Whats good to see at socal
What Now Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 1. Burbank is the closest airport to SFMM, however LAX is halfway between Magic Mountain and Knott's. 2. Those two parks are about 90 minutes apart. 3. The Knott's Berry Farm Hotel is the only decent hotel within walking distance of Knott's, however there are plenty of hotels within 5 miles. 4. A Knott's pass are good at any Cedar Fair Park. 5. What kind of things do you like to do?
DailyBugle_JL Posted January 24, 2006 Author Posted January 24, 2006 Im in to whatever ill try anything at least once just for the experience. THanks for all the answers but what i meant to ask is, Is it a long commute between the two parks due to traffic.
DailyBugle_JL Posted January 29, 2006 Author Posted January 29, 2006 So i was thinking (something i dont do much) for a while a stumbled across 2 hr of ERT at MM on the 12th then i seen that Robb and Elissa are having a get together that day as well. My official Trip plans flight wise are Leave ATL thursday evening Fri- ill think of something Sat- Winter Solace at Knotts. Sun- MM and RE I cant wait. Leave from LAX late that night MON- Arrive in ATL ready for school any cool things to get into on a friday night in SoCal. Help Wanted. I cant wait.
ParkTrips Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Funny thing is that J is so quiet, you won't even know he's there!
the_rock401 Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Has Knott's announced any hotel deals for Friday night, or was that a special thing for Silver Bullet's first event? Last year they had a Friday night ERT and dinner for those who got the hotel package. Also, are you renting a car?
DailyBugle_JL Posted January 29, 2006 Author Posted January 29, 2006 ^I think the only forsure way for me to get from park to park at this time is to rent a car. My family lives all the way out in Riverside and further and they have to work those days. So yes im renting a car that weekend.
DailyBugle_JL Posted February 23, 2006 Author Posted February 23, 2006 How muck is gas in the MM/Knotts area. I just dont want to get there expecting $2.09/gallon and see $4+.
ebl Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 ^ Gas tends to be cheaper in Orange County (KBF and the DLR) than in Ventura County where I live. Here, it's about $2.50-2.60, so in Orange County, I'd say $2.40 or so. In L.A. County (SFMM), I'd guess that gas is about the same. Hope this helps you. Eric

If you were boring like me, you could see a movie at Graumann's Chinese Theater or drive up and down Hollywood Boulevard. If you were staying the week, I would suggest getting a Southern California Citypass.
