Three Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 Hey, first time poster, n00b, etc. -- apologies in advanced. I was wondering if you could tell me what to expect crowd-wise at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in May. My current plans would put me there on a Saturday -- something I'm very worried about. Should I drop everything and shift my vacation back a day and go there on a Friday? Are crowds in Williamsburg that thick this time of year? Dumb question, I know, but I'd rather be stupid here for free than stupid at BGW and out $50+. Thanks for any input.
GAcoaster Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 All of Williamsburg seems to always be crowded lately. :? I would try to go on Friday instead of Saturday. Although the weekdays may have school groups (senior trips and stuff), I think it will still be better, if for no other reason than school groups usually leave in the afternoon, so the evening may be less crowded.
Three Posted March 10, 2005 Author Posted March 10, 2005 Okay, I'm changing my plans. Friday it is (I knew that was a stupid idea...) Besides the coasters, can anybody give me some must sees and must dos there? Escape from Pompeii looks suspiciously like Journey to Atlantis to me, but I'm assuming it's just a flume ride as RCDB doesn't count it. Anything I should go out of my way to check out there?
robbalvey Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Yeah, Friday sounds much better. I always try to avoid big parks on a Saturday, unless it's park I've already been to, there's nothing new to me, and knowing that worst case scenario I won't get to ride much and it won't matter. --Robb
SharkTums Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Pompeii is good...it's basically a "shoot the chutes" with elaborate theming. Definitely a must do. Keep in mind they're also opening up some sort of "Spiderman Type" Dark ride...it's not themed to spiderman but it's that sort of ride system from what I understand. You'll have fun! It's a nice park...not one that I visit more than once every 5 years, but still really nice! Elissa "my fav coaster there is Big Bad Wolf" Alvey
Three Posted March 10, 2005 Author Posted March 10, 2005 Right, the Darkastle ride. From the info I've seen on it, everyone's talking about it like it's going to be the most innovative thing ever. But it sounds more or less identical to Spiderman to me (minus the theme, natch). It's even got the drop part, apparently. What's so innovative about it exactly? I'd much prefer they got a new coaster. Since they tore out DrachenFire and lost the Wild Maus to BGTB, that gives BGW four compared to BGTB's eight this year. I remember being jealous that Williamsburg seemed to be getting all the better stuff. Now I'm wondering how I ever got such a silly notion in my head. Ah well. Four more credits is better than nothing.
YoshiFan Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 They really could use some new coasters. The Wild Maus was the only smaller coaster they had and they really have no family or mild thrill coasters.
