Nrthwnd
I got to visit Astroworld once, Columbus Day Weekend, 1992. The Batman:The Eascape standup was "the newbie" in the park. Long lines, but worth it to ride. And riding Excalibur and XLR8, too. All great coasters. But, I have no memory of that Sleigh/Mountain ride, back then. Possibly/probably removed for something else, I guess. Would have to see an old map to find out. And those two guitars up there? Bet there's a story with those, too. The posters look great, where you put them, Bert! (And, for the record... Google lists Batman as Opening in 1993. But I know I rode it in the fall of '92. Maybe that was it's "Soft Opening" period. Compared to how it's done, nowadays.)
bert425
the Alpine Sleighs were one of the original rides at the park and was a dark ride / powered coaster type ride. I loved the hell out of it. . but it got shut down in, I think, 1984. they turned the inside of the structure into part of the Children's Adventure area - with foam bags, and ropes courses and crap for several years, and then part of it was incorporated into Batman's Queue when it opened, so you passed thru the mountain on the way to Gotham City. there's no POV of it that I can find, but several parts of it can be seen in various videos on youtube (search for Alpine Sleigh Ride Astroworld)
JT325
Those are beautiful posters! Thanks for sharing, miss this place. I'll never forget how beautiful and intimidating Texas Cyclone was... and how dang tight those curves and drops were.
