coasters 4 me
Photo TR: Ice Hockey! Yes, Ireland does have Ice Hockey. Belfast Giants Vs Coventry Blaze After my mum getting free tickets to go see an ice-hockey match, we headed up to The Odyssey Arena on Friday night at about 6:15. We got there and it was packed. Got a parking space and headed into the arena. I sat down and some of the match had started. We were into the game about 15 mins and the Giants had scored. But about 5 minutes later, the Blaze team scored. Some brave people cheered in the arena (There were literally about 10). Then suddenly, there was a fight. The whole arena started cheering in an uproar and there was blood on the pitch. Then, the First Thrid of the match ended. I went to the shop thing and got some sweets. We got back and the match started. As soon as it started, the Blaze scored. But then, someone got hit somehow in the face and was down on the pitch. He moved away and there was a puddle of blood on the pitch. The match started again and then the Giants scored. The second thrid was up. We went around to the other side of the arena and viewed the third half there for a while. Then we seen someones stick broke in half. The Giant then scored again. And the Blaze scored again soon after. When it was over, we headed into the Odyssey complex were there are tons of resturants: Chinese, Indian, Spanish, Mexican, American and Japanese. There are also some other clubs as well. Then we headed to the exit and headed home. Overall, it was a great night. Here are some pics (About 4), sorry about the quality, I took them with my phone. Ryan Berry This is the main part of the Odyssey. You can see the Warner Bro Cinema Village. There is also Ten Pin bowling and there is a DDR Machine in there!! And another. Another shot. The match. Bubba Z
I'm Jealous you don't have nets hanging from the ceiling to the top of the glass behind the goalies. No more souvenirs in my section anymore. Pitch = Ice right?

No more souvenirs in my section anymore. Yeah they do. Take a close look and check out my hidious arrows. Four point to the bottom of the net and the one in the middle of nowhere points to where you can sort of see the netting itself.

Coasters 4 me - Didnt Tony Hand play for Belfast? He's my favourite player! I think he did. I am not sure. The team used to live pretty near to me, about half a mile away, me and my friends used to go to their house and get freebies and autographs. Are their more fights in Irish Hockey matches than normal hockey matches??? Gregg "I can say that, I'm part Irish" C. Aparrently, Canadian matches are very bloody. So my mums friend said. She was in Canada and they seen one and they said it was very bloody. Our ones are nothing compaired to the ones in the States. Although I have never seen one in the states, I am going by her opinion.

Although they do travel out of the pitch at very high speeds. Sorry, I accidentally double posted, so I changed it.

Although I have never seen one in the states, I am going by her opinion. The NHL has changed the rules this year after a lost season due to a lock-out/labour dispute. Unfortunitly, the rule changes are (in my opinion), meant to make the game more pleasing to the US market (ie. more scoring, more penalties, shoot-outs, etc.). This is what happens when you let a short non-hockey guy run the the league from a New York City office. The grass-root games here in Canada is where you really see hockey as it was meant to be. The junior leagues are more rough and tumble and there is the odd blood-letting. If you want to see rough hockey, go rent the movie "Slap Shot". It is from the '70's but stars Paul Newman. Slap Shot II is awful, don't rent it.
RBOrrell
I just read an article in the Toronto Star about Theo Fluery. For those that don't know him, he is an ex-NHL player. He is 37 and is playing for Belfast. Early in his career, he was known as a tough guy but a fineese player too. He was short (by NHL standards - 5'8"). He had some problems in the last few years (alcohol mostly) and he could not get in the show. So he has signed with Belfast and in his first game he really wowed them - couple of goals, couple of scraps. It's nice to see him trying to turn things around. He is not sober yet but he says he is trying.
FlyingScooter
HOCKEY! Yes, I love hockey. My daughters high school has a hockey team and it's fun to watch players that still have their teeth. Cleveland is not known for hockey, but when we do have a team, I love to go and watch. I actually saw a fight between goalies. was hillarious.
