KBrylczyk
The Las Vegas Foodie Fest is in town this weekend. Basically it's an annual event where every food truck in the city parks in the lot across from Luxor and sells their food at higher-than-usual prices, all in the name of getting people to try new food they otherwise wouldn't have. But let's forget about all that nonsense for now. There's also a few carnival rides, including two credits. There was a Flitzer, a kiddie Dragon coaster, Ring of Fire, Gravitron, Yo-Yo,Fun House, Ferris Wheel, Fun Slide, Orbiter, and a few smaller kiddie rides. Nothing crazy, but enough to warrant my paying $10 at the gate to take a look around. Oh, speaking of which, yeah, there's a gate charge for the festival based around food and it doesn't even include a sample of any food. Basically they make you pay for the privilege of paying even more than normal prices for food. Let's just say it's kind of a ripoff. There was a Dole Whip stand, though, so that made me smile. On with the pictures! An extremely rickety Ring Of Fire. Change of underwear recommended after riding. I swore this thing was going to topple over while I was on it. Deep-fried everything stands ('MURICA!) with the strip's tallest Ferris Wheel in the background. Yeah, Ferris Wheel, not Observation Wheel. Records being broken all up in this place. Yes, let the rickety-ness seep into your soul. The Yo-Yo. I didn't bother ponying up the cash for this bundle o' death, and judging by the crowd, I made the right decision. I haven't seen an Orbiter in years! Once this thing got going it was pretty darn wicked! Largest Ferris Wheel on the strip, with the remains of SkyVue Observation Wheel in the background. There was a Gravitron, which is another ride I skipped. Once you've ridden one you've ridden them all, and I didn't feel like paying $5 to do it again. Creepiest thing I saw there. The monster on the left has sharpened teeth! Another super-rickety ride, the Flitzer. Nothing special to report, but it sure did like to groan as the cars zipped around the track. I'm not sure if it's going to stay in one piece all weekend. Am I that much of a dirty whore? No. No I'm not. But hey, look! Picture!
simon8899
Why are most - correction: all so far shown US carnivals look so sketchy and the rides so...so...run down. The only ride here looking at least decent is the ferris wheel. Were is the backwall for the Moser Rides deathmachine? Were is the lighted "FLITZER" sign and colorful flags supposed to be mounted onto those bare beams? Sometimes I like my country just for having the great carnivals! KBrylczyk
^ I have no idea why our carnivals are so poor. There are a few that are actually pretty well done, but for the most part you're correct. You should see the ones that go to Walmart parking lots...eesh. cal1br3tto
I was about to be mad I missed this by a couple days, but I think Easter weekend was the small window of time that Adventuredome was running the rides I wanted to hit. Also, this is from one of my local carnival companies, so I can try to track down the Flitzer closer to home. Though it seems the closest it got last year was just below Canada... Cool report, looks like a non-terrible collection of rides to me, albeit of the sketchy carny sort.

Around St. Louis, the ones.is walmart and shopping mall parking lots have the nicest rides, sketchy operators, but nice rides. The smaller city and church picnic have worse looking rides, but nicer operators.
