WFChris Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 KCET article here Just thought TPR might enjoy this...at the very least you may enjoy learning about LONG GONE coasters including the first racer on the west coast.
Nrthwnd Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Ah, those were the REAL Dangerous coaster days.... Thanks for sharing this. Chris!
linearinduction Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 The First Racer on the West Coast was the Giant Racer at Saltair in Salt Lake City.
WFChris Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 ^Even if SLC was on the 'west coast,' the coaster you are mentioning opened in 1932. "The Race Thru The Clouds" mentioned in this article opened in 1911, predating SLC's coaster by over 20 years.
cfc Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 The First Racer on the West Coast was the Giant Racer at Saltair in Salt Lake City. Yeah, I don't consider Utah to be "West Coast," either. And what the hell is this terrifying creature?
linearinduction Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 You are correct Chris, Saltair's Giant Racer (The First One) opened 5 years later in 1916. While Salt Lake City may not be considered the West Coast Today, Saltair was considered "The Coney Island of the West Coast" a very long time ago. What is that crazy airplane contraption?
Tanks4me05 Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 ^^^I'm pretty sure that's just an elephant seal.
WFChris Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 What is that crazy airplane contraption? The original "Plane on a Stick?" lol
