^Even if SLC was on the 'west coast,' the coaster you are mentioning opened in 1932. "The Race Thru The Clouds" mentioned in this article opened in 1911, predating SLC's coaster by over 20 years.

The First Racer on the West Coast was the Giant Racer at Saltair in Salt Lake City.

 

Yeah, I don't consider Utah to be "West Coast," either.

You are correct Chris, Saltair's Giant Racer (The First One) opened 5 years later in 1916. While Salt Lake City may not be considered the West Coast Today, Saltair was considered "The Coney Island of the West Coast" a very long time ago.

 

What is that crazy airplane contraption?
