Gutterflower Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) Surf Coaster at Sea Paradise in Japan is undergoing a transformation into Surf Coaster Leviathan. The ride will feature new "Blade" trains, special effects and night lighting. Most interestingly the new trains are lap bar only replacing the old Togo OTSR's which can only be a good thing. And they look pretty funky too The ride is due to reopen next Saturday. 805Andrew Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I'm curious to see how the lightning effect will work being outdoors. Sounds cool.
GrapesLie Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 ^THIS This is so awesome! I really wish more parks in the US would do stuff like this to keep their older rides relevant!
cfc Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Surf Coaster was already a pretty good ride (a better-than-average Togo coaster). Replacing the OTSRs with lapbars, and adding the lighting package, should be an improvement.
gerstlaueringvar Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Very cool! I always think those TOGO coasters can benefit from lap bars a lot. Is it getting new trains from another manufacturer or are the trains getting modification?
