WFChris Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) Hello, Had this news on my Facebook today from Montana Rusa, however the article doesn't translate very well. It states that a new coaster at an 'important park in the capital area' will be one of the countries largest. It also cites that they are working with the same people that brings coasters to Disney Parks. Finally, it mentions that the investment is $1,200,000 USD, which seems way low for a huge coaster. Anyway, here is the article (in Spanish and Google Translated). If any of our Spanish speaking friends would like to clarify this info, please help! This should be interesting to follow. As far as the price, the cost of labor and such in Mexico is probably much lower than it is here. The US Dollar seems to stretch VERY far south of the border from what I know. Perhaps that is why it seems low. I have no idea if this is true or not, but that was my thought on it.
Nrthwnd Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I read this article on another site. And the video history tour of the park nowadays, is pretty sad. Lots of work to be done, even before they put a coaster up, IMhO. Hope this eventually works out.

Is anybody familiar with the costs associated for the Medusa Steel Coaster retrofit? I know they are using mostly Mexican Labor on that one. Knowing that might shed some light on the price of labor down there.
Mrenata Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I don't think the labor cost in Mexico would affect the decision of what coaster to buy, since they already stated that they will hire mechanics and engineers from Disney World to set up the coaster. Also, the governor said "mas grande", which can translate to tallest or biggest, so it could be a short but long coaster for example. Anyway, if you take a look at Mexico's tallest coasters, the 10th place is only 16 meter high, so with an investment of US$1.2 million I'm sure they can place a coaster on the top 10.
DiegoCC Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I dont think this will be a HUGE coaster. But first things first. This coaster is NOT going to the Mexico City area, its going to Tepic, which is like 8 hours from Mexico City. The reason I don't believe this is going to be a big coaster is exactly because of the place it's going to be located. Tepic is not a big tourist place and neither a big, important city. I hope they actually build something cool, but I'm not getting excited until I see some serious news.
WFChris Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 Thanks Diego, changed the title of the thread!
