thrillseeker4552 Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 2 November 1978 Hello The 1978 season at Seaside Spot was a HUGE success with Forest Run! But the Fall season is now coming in as the Summer season ends, and some changes to the park and becoming present. Because of the large investment of Forest Run last year, the 1979 season at Seaside Spot will be some park improvements. Let's see what's happening! Fall is coming in at Seaside Spot. The weather is still great though due to the Southern California location and the position right on the Pacific! One excellent improvement that is coming in 1979 is shade to queue lines! The "skeleton" is already completed! There are some light crowds today! November is a great time to visit! Hardly any wait at all for Parachute Plunge! Despite the low crowds today, Forest Run is still sending out full trains! This ride sure is popular! Unfortunately, no shade will be coming to Seaside Swings' queue line due to clearance issues, but on the bright side, it is a walk-on! As for Force, it has been closed since last June. I wonder what's going on... The lamp posts have been removed from the queue line. I would hate to see Force go; it is such a unique attraction. Let's hope Force doesn't stay closed for too long. Maybe it's just an annual refurbishment. It has been running year-round for 4 years now... And that's it for now! I can't wait to see the park improvements for the 1979 season completed! And fingers crossed for Force...
JonnyRCT3 Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 It's great to see the park focusing on the guests experience by adding shade to the queue. Forest Run looks like it has done well for the park, I'm sure profits are soaring. I do hope Force re-opens for '79, it'd be a shame for such a revolutionary attraction (at the time) to be gone so soon. Loving every update!
thrillseeker4552 Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 2 April 1979 Hello again! The sun is shining, the weather is warm, and Spring is blooming here in sunny Malibu, California. And the 1979 season is beginning here at Seaside Spot Theme Park. With that, some park improvements have been made for 1979 such as adding shade to queue lines and planting more trees and shrubbery. Now on to photos! A new season at Seaside Spot is beginning! The queue covers for Big Dipper and Adventure Cars have been completed! Getting out of the sun while waiting for their favorite ride is very much appreciated by our guests. The shade cover for Parachute Plunge Fortunately, Force is back up and operating--with a new theme! The queue line has been reconfigured, and the entrance has been moved to the newly-developed adventure-themed area. Force is now known has Treetop Twist! Our guests wait in line for the newly-themed thrill ride Now located in the adventure area are three rides: Forest Run, Adventure Cars, and the newly-themed ride: Treetop Twist! Forest Run is still going strong a whole season later! 28 guests board the train almost every cycle! It sure is popular. Another park improvement for 1979 is more trees and vegetation! Some more trees have been planted in and around the Lumber Run area to give more of a "forest" feel. All in all, Seaside Spot is still going strong while entering its 5th season! Guests love the family thrills it has to offer, as well as the beautiful shoreline and weather! I can't wait to share what the future will bring. There is a lot of open space, and we are looking towards a BIG future!
JonnyRCT3 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 The new adventure area adds some diversity to the park, I think it's a great fit. An adventure themed eatery & another flat would make it more well rounded. Minor complaint: need more & longer updates, I'm loving this
thrillseeker4552 Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 The new adventure area adds some diversity to the park, I think it's a great fit. An adventure themed eatery & another flat would make it more well rounded. Minor complaint: need more & longer updates, I'm loving this Unfortunately, the adventure area is very tight on space, so squeezing another flat in there would be tough, but who knows. However, I will look into an eatery. Can't promise anything yet... As the South area of the park (Big Dipper area) is pretty much blocked on expansion for now, I'm looking into expanding the other side of the park past Parachute Plunge. I have quite a few ideas for it. Thanks for your input though. I'll work on giving longer updates, and hopefully just as frequently (every day or two).
thrillseeker4552 Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 (Out of character.) Sorry for the 3-month hiatus on this park. I intended to update this park more, but I recently received a new computer, so I've been trying to transfer the park file over to my new computer due to the fact that my old one was quite slow and a pain to use. It took me a while to figure it out, but all is good now and this new Macbook Pro is smokin' on RCT3! Anyway, Seaside Spot is back! Again, I apologize for the hiatus. (Back in character.) 22 July 1979 The 1979 season sure is great at Seaside Spot Theme Park. Attendance is very solid, and overall the park is doing great on its 5th season of operation! Some park improvements were made this past off season and shown off back in April, but another addition was made since then. It's smack in the middle of summer here in sunny Southern California. But guests have loved visiting Seaside Spot because of its nice cool breeze! It's surely a pretty park. Lumber Run's queue is filled up with kids and adults! It's a great ride for the whole family, and it goes around two cycles! Last season's new addition, Forest Run, is definitely getting the crowds as well. Full train after full train! Adventure Cars is also quite popular! Again, it's a whole ride the family can enjoy! Big Dipper. The icon of the park. Unfortunately, the California sun sure has taken a toll on the ride. The train is becoming quite faded as well as the wooden rails. Another improvement this season is a little eatery located at the end of Adventure Trail. Yummm...sandwiches and lemonade. Parachute Plunge has taken in a little too much sun as well. It's quite amazing what a few years of sun can do. But regardless of the weather, guests are still flocking to Seaside Spot each year! Wait, what's that over there? It appears that some dirt is being moved around adjacent to Parachute Plunge. I wonder what 1980 has in store. Nothing can be revealed quite yet, but I'll be sure to keep everyone's minds spinning with confusion. Don't worry, the announcement will sail in soon. Looking back, Seaside Spot sure has come a long way since opening day five seasons ago. I wonder what the next five will bring!
thrillseeker4552 Posted July 13, 2014 Author Posted July 13, 2014 (Out of character.) I have decided to move the story along a little faster, as I feel it is dragging quite a bit. Instead of doing 3 updates per year, announcements, construction updates, and things like that, I'll just show the new addition/improvement for that year. This should give the story some more momentum and help it move along a little better. (In character.) 17 April 1980 Wow! 1980 is here, and Seaside Spot just opened the biggest expansion in park history: Caribbean Cove! Located in Caribbean Cove is also the WORLD'S FIRST river rapids ride: Pacific Rapids! It's a beautiful start to the 1980 season here at Seaside Spot Theme Park! This is the new Caribbean Cove area, featuring 3 new rides! Did I mention that Caribbean Cove is the LARGEST investment in the history of Seaside Spot Theme Park?! It has a very "tropical" feel to it! One of the rides located in the new Caribbean Cove is Whirlpool--an Eli Bridge Scrambler ride. Not to mention, Caribbean Cove is also home to the world's first rapids ride, Pacific Rapids! The Voyage, a swinging ship ride, is also new this year as a part of Caribbean Cove! The new area sure takes up a lot of land! Now I see why it is the largest expansion in the park's history! Seaside Spot sure has grown since its opening 5 years ago! It has grown over DOUBLE in size! The 6th season here at the park looks like it will be yet another successful one! Here's to more to come!
JonnyRCT3 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 I hope the new Caribbean Cove area attracts lots of visitors ($$$) to the park. It introduces two classic flats and a world's first water ride. Lots to do there! I do worry that the GP wont find much of a difference between the two similarly themed Caribbean and Adventure themed areas. I'll just let them decide for themselves... A Caribbean themed eatery would make that area even more well rounded, just my 2c.
thrillseeker4552 Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 ^I see your points. The adventure area is mainly aimed at being themed to a jungle/forest, while Caribbean Cove is more of a beach/tropical destination. Hopefully it will do well, but it is only April, so we'll really start to see coming June/July.
JonnyRCT3 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 ^Oh, okay. The Pacific ocean next door opens up worlds of opportunity for the Caribbean Cove area. My interest has peaked.
thrillseeker4552 Posted July 26, 2014 Author Posted July 26, 2014 (Out of character.) Sorry for the little hiatus, again. I was on a 10 day vacation to Kings Island and Cedar Point, so I was somewhat productive! Anyway, here we go. (In character.) 19 July 1980 It's the summer season now at Seaside Spot Theme Park. Unfortunately, it's not the best one. Even with the new addition, Caribbean Cove, attendance has dropped drastically. Six Flags Magic Mountain, about an hour north of Seaside Spot, has been growing rapidly the last few years with the openings of the Great American Revolution and Colossus. Knott's Berry Farm has also proven to be a go-to destination in the SoCal area. Could these parks be affecting Seaside Spot? Seaside Spot Theme Park reports a 7% drop in attendance in comparison to its best year so far, 1978 (Forest Run). A family area doesn't seem to be the market. People want thrills at Seaside Spot. Let's check out the Summer season at SSTP for 1980. All of the new rides at Caribbean Cove are walk-ons. This surely shows the dropped attendance. Many empty seats on Pacific Rapids. Even a classic family favorite Scrambler ride has a walk-on. Remember when the midways would be jam packed? Not today. Or this season. Poor Big Dipper. The California sun sure has it baking. Forest Run, what was the most popular ride in the park, is loading just a few people on. It used to always send out full trains. What happened? Treetop Twist was empty! For a fairly low capacity ride, this is impressive (not in the good way). Just like Big Dipper, Parachute Plunge is standing tall with faded paint. Let's hope this isn't the end of Seaside Spot. It has grown so much, and one year of low attendance can't end it all! Hope, hope, hope.
thrillseeker4552 Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 23 April 1981 MALIBU - A tragic event has occurred at Seaside Spot Theme Park. A woman was recently ejected from the Big Dipper roller coaster last night at 8:58pm. The ride was immediately closed down while the other rides in the park continued to operate for the night. Emergency personnel are on the site investigating the area early this morning. The iconic wooden roller coaster is closed until further notice. Wow, this is tragic news. Prayers go out to the family and anyone involved in the incident. This is the last thing Seaside Spot Theme Park needed. After a 7% drop in attendance last season, the park was already seeing dark skies and a not-so-great future. Hopefully Seaside Spot gets back on their feet soon, or this could be the end of this Pacific coaster park as we know it. Big Dipper has been closed down until further notice. What an unfortunate event for an already-declining attendance park. According to witnesses, the accident occurred at the final double-down section of the ride, which provides extreme airtime. However, nothing will be confirmed until the full investigation is complete. The Big Dipper train, sitting in the station until a light at the end of the tunnel is seen. The future is not bright for Seaside Spot Theme Park. Hopefully they can get back on their feet soon, but at this point it just seems improbable.
Atter Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 First off, nice park. Second, that's horrible news about Big Dipper. I hope it doesn't get removed.
JonnyRCT3 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Tragic. This is the LAST thing the park needed. It's going to take a lot of effort to recover from this, and time.
thrillseeker4552 Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 31 May 1982 MALIBU - An official statement has been released from Seaside Spot Theme Park regarding the incident that occurred on the Big Dipper roller coaster last season. "A woman was ejected from our iconic Big Dipper roller coaster last season. The lap restraint did not restrain the woman properly, resulting in the unfortunate event. As a safety precaution, the double-down section of the ride where the incident occurred has been replaced with a simple drop, and seat belts have been added to the ride's train. The safety of our guests is our number one priority here at Seaside Spot," says general manager and spokesperson, Nathan Lamore. The Big Dipper roller coaster is now open to the public after undergoing a complete investigation. It's great to hear an official statement from the park. While it's unfortunate that the airtime-famous double-down was removed and seat belts were added, it's nice to see the ride open again. Maybe this is the first step in a bright future for the park. No more double-down. It's for the better, though. It's a pleasant surprise to see how popular Big Dipper is after reopening. The midways of the park are a little more populated now. This is great news! I also spy some new red paint on Big Dipper! Wait, what's that over there? It looks like a very decent plot land has had some dirt moved. If this leads to a new addition, the future for Seaside Spot looks promising!
JonnyRCT3 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Expansion! This has my full attention. Dark ride?
thrillseeker4552 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 3 September 1982 MALIBU - Seaside Spot Theme Park announces new wooden roller coaster for 1983, Twisted Timber. "Our guests demanded another thrilling attraction at Seaside Spot. We saw an attendance decline after the addition of family attractions in the past and realized that we needed something big...soon," says Seaside Spot's general manager Nathan Lamore. In 1983, Seaside Spot Theme Park will introduce their longest roller coaster, Twisted Timber. This is the park's second wooden coaster, the other being Big Dipper, the classic coaster that opened with the park in 1975. "We think our guests will be pleased with this new roller coaster. Forest Run, Big Dipper, and Treetop Twist are our most thrilling attractions, and we feel that Twisted Timber will fit that line-up perfectly," comments Lamore. Twisted Timber will stand 95 feet tall and have a top speed of 49mph. It will be 2,526 feet in length, longer than any other coaster in the park. Twisted Timber is the largest roller coaster investment in the park's 8 year history. The ride was designed and will be constructed in-house by engineers at Seaside Spot, and Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters will provide both of the ride's 6-car trains. Twisted Timber will have an estimated capacity of 1,100 people per hour. "We are very excited for this thrilling new attraction, and we feel that our guests are too." Wow, this is excellent news! It's such a great sight to see SSTP back on their feet. I look forward to 1983! Here is the concept art for Twisted Timber. It surely takes up a lot of space! I love the amount of low-to-the-ground elements. This will definitely enhance the feeling of speed! The station/brake area This will definitely be a picturesque ride! Now on to photos of the park. It's nice to see more crowds in the park. About half of Big Dipper has been re-painted. Can't wait to see this completed. Here is the site of Twisted Timber. The station is under construction, and track has already gone vertical! This is a big expansion for SSTP. The future looks bright!
thrillseeker4552 Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 1 January 1983 Happy New Year, everybody! As you know, Seaside Spot is currently building this massive wooden roller coaster for 1983, Twister Timber! A lot of the ride's layout is in place, but there is still a lot more that needs to be installed. Can't wait to see the finished coaster! It's a nice, cool January day here at Seaside Spot. It's great to see some lines for the rides again. The park is stepping in the right direction! It's also just as great to see Big Dipper with a decent line! That tragic accident is behind us now. Speaking of Big Dipper, the entire ride is now re-painted, including the trains back to a nice, bright yellow and red. Now on to some construction photos! A portion of Parachute Plunge's seating area was removed to make way for Twisted Timber's entrance plaza. This whole area will look much more refreshed this summer. The roller coaster's 95-foot lift hill is topped off! It's a great view from up here! About 50% of the ride's layout is complete. I just can't get over how BIG this ride is! I look forward to it being complete.
JonnyRCT3 Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Twister Timber is going to be massive. I really like the layout of it, it seems to provide lots of airtime and twisted turns, a solid woodie all around (layout wise). I do fear that this may cause an expansion block in the future.
thrillseeker4552 Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 ^ No worries, I have some plans...
thrillseeker4552 Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 31 March 1983 A statement has been released about the opening of the thrilling new wooden roller coaster, Twister Timber. Twisted Timber will open to the public on Saturday, April 9th, 1983. This is great news! That's just a little over a week away. Let's check up on the construction! It's a beautiful spring day here at Seaside Spot! This is the new Twisted Timber entrance plaza. Oh, is that a train I see on the lift hill? It appears that testing has begun! Only one train is testing at the moment though. The other is waiting on the transfer track. The queue line for Twisted Timber has a little theming too! It feels "woodsy" and mysterious! I like it! Trees have been planted in and around the ride. The ride will be great--twisting around and through the trees. I love the "woodsy" feel of the entrance plaza. Well, opening day is just a little over a week away! I can't wait to ride Twisted Timber!
