Personally, out of the ones I've Ben on, I don't think they're all that bad, or at least as bad as people make them out to be. While the ones I've ridden learnt glass smooth, they certianly didn't give me as much of a beating as other rides I've been on, like older arrow loopers. Looking past the roughness, the layout is actually quite intense for its size, with a few unique elements I haven't seen on other inverts (EX. Sea serpent roll double barrel roll).

So, what's your take?

I've ridden several of them, and the only one I actually enjoy is Great Nor'easter at Morey's because it had the newer Vekoma trains. All the others vary. Some aren't bad (Batman at Six Flags Mexico) and some are really terrible (Flight Deck at Canada's Wonderland). I try to ride each one with an open mind, but I usually walk off of them pretty beat up.

That's strange... Flight deck is the one I've been on the most, and it wasn't all that bad.

My opinion isnt really popular but I enjoy my local SLC a lot (Kong at SFDK). The main issue to me is that the OTSRs are made out of this really hard rubber that has no give to it and the thickness and position make it perfect for beating the crap out of your head if you're not careful.

I've found that by simply turning my head in the direction of each turn, the back of my head stays against the OTSR and minimizes headbanging. The roughness is not enough to be painful (Unlike X2 [not an slc I know], which is so painful I absolutely cannot ride it more than once a day), so for me it actually adds to the ride and actually makes it a little more fun because I actually have to watch what I'm doing

tl;dr - for me it's overrated, but I've only ridden one, others may be much worse.
