Would anyone in the Tampa area be interested in going to this event?

 

I have been given permission to look for security for the event.

 

Basically, you would be checking to make sure people entering have a wristband. This is mainly during the pool party which starts around 7:30pm on August 10th.

 

You will receive free admission to all 3 days of the event, August 9 - 11 for helping us make sure everyone is supposed to be there during the pool party.

 

I will be arriving Friday morning to help set up, and will be displaying my work at the pool Friday night, as well as during the trade show on Saturday.

It's not everyone's thing, but I confess I've always liked the image of the mermaid for some reason. I think it goes back to when I first saw "Splash" as a youngster. Of course, I don't take it to the extent these people do, but I do admire their courage and their obvious joy in following their passion. Of course some people stare and gawk, but I also see lots of little kids who are incredibly entertained by these performers, which is very sweet IMO.

 

Also, the one poster from earlier hit the nail on the head, many of these merphiles are VERY attractive people, physically and emotionally.

How expensive are those tails? Probably doesn't even come close to what some of us have spent traveling to ride coasters.

I don't have exact figures, but I hear the best quality ones are incredibly expensive.

As the person who designed and created the tail and makeup for Daryl Hannah in "SPLASH", Jim Carrey's Herb Ritt's Mertail and the Mercolony from "Sabrina Down Under" I just wanted to say that I really appreciate the Mer-Community and it's support of events like Merpalooza in giving people the opportunity to share their passion.

I have not been to the Coney Island Mermaid Parade in NYC.

 

I would LOVE to get one started here in Coney Island Cincinnati! That would be awesome.

That would be awesome! I had the opportunity to goto the nyc parade and it was really cool. It was my first experience with Mermaids.
