Someone falling to their death is horrific and a 90 foot fall into a dark mechanical pit is stomach churning. Such a tragic incident, my sincere condolences to anyone who knew Sarah.

I saw a special on TV about a year back all about how Cirque du Soleil prepares for each show and gets the music timed with the right scenes, checking all the harnesses and set pieces, etc. I was thoroughly impressed with how detail-oriented they were about every little thing having to be perfect due to the degree of difficulty for most stunts. It seemed like all the performers were extremely well taken care of and Cirque du Soleil's track record shows that.

Having never seen Ka, can someone explain the Battlefield scene? What it's like, what sort of stunts occur, etc. I searched google and youtube but came up with a bunch of gobbledygook nonsensical stuff.

It's definitely one of the most amazing theatrical scenes out there.

From what I read on another forum: the cables are replaced every 6 months and checked twice a day, so this has to be a very freak occurrence.

^Understandable, but a big loss to the show. Thankfully the show isn't a "one trick pony," so everyone should still enjoy the show!
