TBpony414 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Someone falling to their death is horrific and a 90 foot fall into a dark mechanical pit is stomach churning. Such a tragic incident, my sincere condolences to anyone who knew Sarah. I saw a special on TV about a year back all about how Cirque du Soleil prepares for each show and gets the music timed with the right scenes, checking all the harnesses and set pieces, etc. I was thoroughly impressed with how detail-oriented they were about every little thing having to be perfect due to the degree of difficulty for most stunts. It seemed like all the performers were extremely well taken care of and Cirque du Soleil's track record shows that. Having never seen Ka, can someone explain the Battlefield scene? What it's like, what sort of stunts occur, etc. I searched google and youtube but came up with a bunch of gobbledygook nonsensical stuff.
Saldek Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 ^Here's a behind-the-scenes look at the Battle wall and how it works. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
Jew Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 It's definitely one of the most amazing theatrical scenes out there. From what I read on another forum: the cables are replaced every 6 months and checked twice a day, so this has to be a very freak occurrence.
Saldek Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 According to Cirque PR director Renée-Claude Ménard, the Battle scene will be cut from the show while the OSHA investigation is on-going and performances are not expected to resume before July 16. http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/las-vegas/cirque-rep-says-final-ka-battle-scene-likely-be-cut
Jew Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 ^Understandable, but a big loss to the show. Thankfully the show isn't a "one trick pony," so everyone should still enjoy the show!
Wes Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 Definitely seems like a freak accident...something you can't even control.
