robbalvey Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Ok, so I'm trying to get back into playing the scenarios in RCT3 and it just seems like no matter what I do, after I put down a ride it gets totally un-popular after a short amount of time. Whether it's a coaster, flat ride, etc, the peeps will flock to it for the first few months, and then after that, nothing. Even if I make it FREE! So I wind up having a park with a dozen rides or so that NO ONE is riding! This never happened in RCT 1 or 2, so what am I doing wrong? I have Soaked! installed and have upgraded to whatever the latest version is, so I'm up to date as far as patches go. Has anyone else seen this problem? Please help! --Robb
viking86 Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 The same thing happened to me, which is why I never spent much time playing the scenarios in RCT3
coasterdude5 Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Hmmm.... Did you do manual or automatic update?
RctInfinity Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Hey, you can use a cheat to make all rides irresistible to peeps by typing Sam Denney into the guest names!
robbalvey Posted September 20, 2005 Author Posted September 20, 2005 I did the automatic update. --Robb
FishyFish Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Which scenario are you playing? I've not noticed this myself but I'm only up to the movie park scenario (I spend far more time faffing about in sandbox mode )
robbalvey Posted September 20, 2005 Author Posted September 20, 2005 Very first one. this is a clean install of RCT3/Soaked!/Patch --Robb
FishyFish Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 In that case I didn't notice a problem. Are you building your own coasters, or using the pre-built ones? I've attached my save file for the first campaign - you could try loading that and see if you get the same problem? Plus you can laugh at my awful site layout... Dad.zip Campaign 1 complete.
crispy Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 WOW, yeah I've noticed these types of problems with RCT3 in general put down a lotion booth, VERY popular
kenshinmac Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Yeah RCT3 is a lot more demanding than RCT2 & 1. You need to really go for consistent themes around rides and try to dress things up. It still seems kinda hit or miss whether riders will like a ride. I have had some rides that were very similar and one was just swamped with riders for ages and the other was just about empty. I know it can be a bit frustrating but try adding more scenery of one type to the area around the ride and keep working at it. Make the rides overlap and go through each other when possible. It all helps. Gradually you will get the feeling of what works and what doesn't. Overall you just have to accept that the rides just will never be as popular as they are in RCT 1&2.
zankara Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 I never really had that problem. I have read somewhere that some games have that issue and some don't.
