A.J. Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 (edited) Hey everyone! I finally finished another NoLimits coaster! Hooray! This one's called "Tornado". It's 131 feet tall and just over 4,250 feet long. If it were real, I would imagine it would be built by the Gravity Group using their Timberliner trains, and it would NOT be built in China. The highlights of the ride are the unique spiraling first drop (kind of like the Hersheypark Great Bear), large spirals at either end of the layout, and the ride's very own "airtime buffet" with three hills in a row each producing between -.8 and -1.1 Gs depending on where you sit. I'm still working on support cleanup, but the coaster is in a presentable state to share! Check it out. tornado3alternate2-130120114929000.bmp tornado3alternate2-130120114940001.bmp tornado3alternate2-130120115048002.bmp Edited January 27, 2013 by A.J.
CorkscrewFoley Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Wow, wow, and wow! I really dig this one, AJ. I do have one minor complaint though...where's the POV?
CpBluestreakCp Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Looks really great, I especially love the first drop! Very unique.
A.J. Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 An on-ride video completely slipped my mind, honestly. Here you go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyEnYWljoPI
imawesome1124 Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Wow, that thing would be an airtime machine if it was real. Very very well done A.J.
CorkscrewFoley Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 That is awesome! I know I said it before. Kind of reminded me of El Toro or Colossos where it's one airtime hill followed after another, and it just doesn't seem to let up.
A.J. Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 Here's an update on my progress! Support cleanup is going well, though it gets a little difficult sometimes. That's not what I'm updating you on, however! After finally sitting down and screwing around, I have decided to start using Rhino 3D for my basic modeling needs! I have been looking for an intuitive modeler that can run native on Mac OS X for some time now, and Blender just didn't cut it for me. Because of this, Tornado will be my first NoLimits coaster to incorporate 3DS objects! Check it out! You have to start somewhere! tornado3alternate2-130127164738001.bmp I spaced the transfer track out a bit too far, that will be fixed. tornado3alternate2-130127164721000.bmp The importation was a success! I can't wait to get rolling on this.
Coaster Cow Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Very nice! It reminds me strangely of Great Russian Mountain, the Schwarzkopf(ish) at Wonder Island in Russia. Same funky start and then long out-and-back course with helices at either end. rcdb.com/2867.htm I don't know if you had thought about it.
historyfreak92 Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Wow! This sort of makes me think of Boardwalk Bullet at Kemah Boardwalk, but to me I think this wooden coaster could be built in Pennsylvania, or either Ohio!
