jarmor Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 im just browsing trying to find a flight to orlando for HHN and the other day i saw a one way flight for like 78.00 (only need oneway riding back w/ a friend) And now tonight I see flights for like almost double that for one way! I was told onece before that you should buy tickets at particular times but I wondered if that was true...
CoasterFanatic Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Wednesday is usually when the discount rates are published. Get em early or they may be gone. FareWatcher (Travelocity) is your friend. You don't need to neccesarily buy the tickets from there, but it will give you a good idea who is going where and for how much. Then you can cross reference them with other sites ... including the airlines. If Southwest sevices your local airport, make sure you check their site. They have some of the most competitive rates and they don't publish them to Sabre.
SharkTums Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 ^Add to that... CHECK EVERY DAY, MULTIPLE TIMES. Seriously, I've seen rates fluctuate by over $200 within a day! It's really not amusing!
ebl Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 ^ Yeah, trying to book flights on Expedia, Orbitz, etc. is almost like a video game. You find a good fare and have to track it down before it goes away. Maybe that's why I don't travel very much. Eric
Sir Clinksalot Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 I agree with all of the above. And make sure you book for the right days ... it can be costly to switch flights that were booked the wrong days ... trust me.
