Teddymonster Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Well, we got another one of these bad girls coming up through East coast. Anyone else get hit by her yet?
Guest Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 From what I have heard since the 12 o'clock news is that this is a tropical storm, and will be a VERY weak catergory 1 clipping the coast of NC and back out to sea. Funny how the government is already there in NC making sure everything is going smoothly. Wonder why they didn't do that for the people of New Orleans? Yup our government is all for helping condo-living vacationers off the beach for a tropical storm, but can't help the poor people of New Orleans that have nothing. Just an absolute shame. Katie, I hate GWB.
PhishyBrewer Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Funny how the government is already there in NC making sure everything is going smoothly. Wonder why they didn't do that for the people of New Orleans? I think because George Bush want's people to know that he does care... care about NASCAR drivers.
Space Freak Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 ^^ I dont think that it had anything to do with the people in New Orleans compared to the people in North Carolina. Rather, with 20-20 hindsight of what happend in New Orleans, I think that officials are playing it safe. I mean afterall, they need to get reelected right? Rob

You sure hit that one on the head...
Guest Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Ok, this is what I don't get. I lived in FL for 7 years. I went through Andrew, which was absolutely horrible. Katrina was a Catergory 5 hurricane. They KNEW it was gonna hit New Orleans, and they told the people within 24 hours to get out. No one was there to help those in need out. Now we have Ophelia, BARELY a hurricane and they are evacuating the coast. Which I can understand, but the national guard is there already? Give me a break. I don't give a crap about the government doing it now. Those people in New Orleans had to suffer some horrid heartbreak, because no one would send buses or anything to help those people out. This subject just really angers me. There are a lot of poor (er) people in New Orleans and they got NO help until what 4 or 5 days AFTER the storm hit them and ruined their beloved city? Ophelia is gonna scrape the coast and they get evac'ed and have help. That just makes no sense to me. This government is not doing the right thing, and they just now admit that. Many people have died and are still dying because of Katrina. And people are gonna bitch about a Tropical storm? Can I have a little cheese with that whine? Katie

Can I have a little cheese with that whine? Katie Okay...if this was directed at my bitching and whining, please forgive me, for I live in VIRGINIA (i.e. a place that normally does not get many hurricanes). For the comment about the government not doing anything, well, remember after 9/11 how the general public and the media began to address the issue of the military's total obliviousness to the attacks? Well, if I'm not mistaken, national security became a new vocab word for the country after the unfortunate and devastating event. Same thing here...Katrina, like most hurricanes, was quasi unpredictable and it most likely was the not the government's intentions to make the poor suffer, because that means more work for them. Ophelia, being as wimpy as she may be, still poses a threat to some states, and they just don't want the same sh*t that happened in NO to happen on the East coast. Once that settles in for you, come join this whiny bitch in VA Beach and we can share your cheese wedge.
XanderLee Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Forgive the government for learning from their mistakes. I know that doesn't happen very often but wow...
Erik Johnson Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Why does everyone blame the government everytime? People need to learn to rely on themselves for a change and stop expecting the governement to take care of everything. Im not a big Bush supporter, but all of this is not the President's fault. New Orleans should have been more prepared at the local level.
OzCatter Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 I'm gonna get flamed http://store1.yimg.com/I/achdirective_1862_868445
Kroger8 Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 I hope it turns more north and doesn't come straight west as we will be hit with torrential rains. Hey now, GWB is my homeboy! And I happen to think that since we all know Hillary is running in '08 I think Republicans should nominate a female for president as well, I nominate Condoleezza Rice, shes my homegirl! Shes extremely smart as well.
XanderLee Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Smarts mean nothing if you dont apply them
PhishyBrewer Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 (edited) I'm gonna get flamed http://store1.yimg.com/I/achdirective_1862_868445 Just like I said, "I think because George Bush want's people to know that he does care... care about NASCAR drivers." Kroger8 Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 LOL^^^ like all of the democratic presidents?? Yea, Clinton reducing the army to horribly low levels, Carter screwing over the whole country with his enviromental tactics, and Johnson finishing out for Kennedy, all brilliant huh? I'll say that republicans haven't been the best either, but Reagan was 5 times the president any democrat can be!
PhishyBrewer Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Everyone here is entitled to their own opinion. And you should respect that person’s opinion, even if you do not agree with it. PLEASE KEEP THAT IN MIND.

Kroger8 Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 As I stated in what I said^ And yes everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
Teddymonster Posted September 14, 2005 Author Posted September 14, 2005 As I stated in what I said^ And yes everyone is entitled to their own opinions. You are correct, my mistake.
PhishyBrewer Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 As I stated in what I said^ And yes everyone is entitled to their own opinions. We, meaning everyone, don't need another warning from Robb. Thanks!
Kroger8 Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Haha thats ok^^, no but I agree Nixon was way too paranoid, Ford, who even knows anything about him, Reagan was the greatest president of all time to me, Bush 1 wasn't horrible IMO but he definitely wasn't great, and Bush 2, isn't that great either, but still not a bad president. ^I was agreeing with you PhishyBrewer!
Sir Clinksalot Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 ...Johnson finishing out for Kennedy... You make that sound like somehow Johnson had a choice in that one, or that Kennedy was too wasted to finish his term (poor word choice, my bad). Leave Johnson alone. Remember, if something had happened to George Sr., we would have been stuck with Quayle for a while. That would have been...unfortunate.
PhishyBrewer Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 I was just making bad jokes. Simple as that.
PhishyBrewer Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Leave Johnson alone. Remember, if something had happened to George Sr., we would have been stuck with Quayle for a while. That would have been...unfortunate. Now that could start some good jokes.
Kroger8 Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 ^^^Well I believe that President Kennedy would have been a great president if he remained alive. Im not saying Johnson had a choice to be president or not, but he could have done a better job. And yes, Dan Quayle would have sucked butt as a President I think most of us agree on that.
