What happened to the Coney Island "Cyclone"?

My fiancee' and I finally made the trip over to "Astroland" today, and lo and behold, "Cyclone" was closed; I asked the guy at the booth when it would reopen, and he said he wasn't sure.

 

Any clue what happened? I'm not exactly a coaster historian, so maybe I'm wrong about this, but I thought it's been (more or less) running smoothly for 80 years; figures, we FINALLY decide to venture out there (neither of us like the city, but, ya know, it's the "Cyclone" and all) to try it for the first time, and it's closed.

Happened 3rd September, hell I was on it on the Sunday just before. It was throwing me about alot at the back. I had to hold on for dear life. (Worse than the Manhattan Express I might add)

 

Is that normal for the back of the Cyclone? Or was this sometime to do with what happened days later.

Ive heard that if you want your spine adjusted, you should ride Cyclone in the backseat so I guess its fairly normal
