disneygurlz2s Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 OK, so I am a little behind in posting these... the concert was 3 weeks ago!.... but it's been a busy time at my house. I am a huge Jimmy Buffett fan. Back about 15-16 years ago, my best friend Lisa had tickets to go to his concert here in Cincinnati, and she had recently broken up with her loser boyfriend and so she invited me. She kept telling me how much outrageous fun it was, and she was right. Cincinnati, as some of you may know, is a notoriously conservative town. But when Buffett comes to town it's like a combination of Mardi Gras, Halloween and some tripped-out beach party. In fact, the term "Parrothead" was coined right here, 20 years ago, at one of his concerts at Timberwolf at Kings Island. Back when I first started going to Buffett, it was all about the beer and the booze and the craziness. But, I fell in love with his music and the fun attitude of it, and so the concert has become an annual tradition that has included my going with several friends, their kids, their MOMS, my niece (who, when she died suddenly at the age of 23, was buried with a copy of the Parrothead handbook) and now, this year, my little Sam. If you have never been to a JB concert, I can only suggest you try it once. Even if you are not a huge fan of his music, believe me, you will leave a fan. He is probably one of the best and most interactive performers you will ever see, and it's just a fun, evening-long, escape from reality. Shari "proud to be a Parrothead since 1989" Shoufler My friend, Sandy, snapped this when we were dancing to "Gypsies in the Palace". Among the many funny "costumes" and things in the crowd was this Buffett puppet that JB later held up for the crowd to see. Here's my little Parrothead waiting for the concert to start.
FlyingScooter Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 She looked like she had the time of her life. Nice pics, Shari. I remember taking my oldest daughter to Heart when she was 8. It was the first 'no-smoking' concert i'd ever been to. She loved it.

Bring a frisbee and some Parrotheads....you'll have a GREAT time.
disneygurlz2s Posted September 10, 2005 Author Posted September 10, 2005 ^ yeah, but I would have to say the crowd seems to "mellow" with each passing year.... we're all getting too damn old for the heavy partying. Shari "Plus, when you spend $50 a ticket, you actually want to remember what you went to see" Shoufler
OzCatter Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Buffett pwnz all! Great concert I bet. -Cal

Wes Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 It's never too early to get your children listening to crappy music.
