andybarnes84 Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Hi everyone, Once again many thanks to those who helped me plan a trip to the North East corner of the U S of A, now that things have fallen into place I wanted to quiz your knowledge of queues/crowd levels. We leave on the 9th of June 2012 and hit the parks on the following days: Six Flags Great Adventure - Monday (11th June) Morey's Piers - Tuesday Busch Gardens - Thursday Kings Dominion - Friday Knoebels - Saturday (arriving around 1pm) Hershey - Sunday Dorney Park - Monday Quassy + Lake Compounce - Tuesday Six Flags New England - Wednesday (20th June) Now, I've tried looking for myself into when school holidays are but because it varies from state to state I've gotten all confused and beg for your help. The itinerary is fixed so I've done the best I can to move the big parks to weekdays apart from Hershey park. After looking at the above, how do you think we'll do at the parks at this time of year? As always, your collective wisdom is eternally appreciated.
SharkTums Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 At least half of the schools will be out by the first day of your trip and almost all schools will be out by the last day of your trip. Try to either do small parks on weekends or parks that offer Qbots or other options like that. School calendars are done on a small district level so you can tear your hair out and check local schools around the park, or just look at the park calendar and go off of that based on their operating hours.
beatle11 Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Knoebels can get busy, but they have really good ops so you should be good there. As far as Hershey goes, since SkyRush is the new hotness for 2012, get there right away when the park opens and just work your way through. Have fun!
cfc Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 (edited) I don't think you'll encounter any hideous lines at BGW on a Thursday (Verbolten, the ride opening next year, might be an exception), but at least you have the option of Quick Queue. KD shouldn't be too bad on a Friday, either--but ride Volcano first. You might want to look at our park guides in the index for some tips (Verbolten might change things a bit though). TPDave Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Is KD getting the same line pass system that KI got this year? That might be worth looking into.
SharkTums Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 ^Nothing's been confirmed but apparently Cedar Fair is looking into several options. I'm hoping for ANYTHING, but will be very happy if Lo-Q gets involved!
andybarnes84 Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 Once again muchos graci-donkey for the advice, I think we'll definitely look into a q-bot for Six Flags Great Adventure and possibly quick queue at Busch Gardens. I just hope Knoebels won't be too mobbed by the time we finally arrive and I just know Hershey is going to require ALOT of patience on the Sunday given what i've read about their ride efficiency
MJL12785 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I cannot speak to of too many parks but I seriously doubt you will have a problem at Great Adventure on a Monday. Even if schools have trips there, buses tend to leave between 4pm - 6pm. We go there alot and have been there mid week in June and never a problem. 30 min or less waiting time. I would be shocked if you need to invest in the Flash Pass. I know you set your schedule but Hershey and Dorney are only about an hr apart. If you could adjust, try to do Hershey on Monday and Dorney on Sunday. Dorney is usually less crowded than Hershey. Especially with skyrush coming to Hershey it could get quite busy. Hope this helps and enjoy your trip
