robinschroder Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Nine people were rescued from a rollercoaster after being trapped for up to eight hours on the ride in Strathclyde Park. Emergency services were called to M&Ds, near Hamilton in Lanarkshire, after the Tsunami ride suffered a "mechanical failure" at about 1630 BST on Sunday. One of my colleagues just pointed this news story out to me. Sounds like they were stuck for quite some time, although everyone was safe and well in the end. Bear92 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 The ride was a Pinfari suspended looper, and due to the park not owning a cherrypicker it took them over 8 hours to lower the passengers down to safety using ropes. Oh deary me...
Noxegon Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Having ridden that coaster, I feel the word "rescued" is quite appropriate.
mightbeawannabe Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Where was the ride stopped? On the lift? One of the people interviewed said that once it stopped he though it'd be restarted within minutes...and that'd be the only place 60 feet in the air where you could stop and start the ride.
