tanthonyam Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I just scored some dirt cheap tickets on Spirit Air to Dallas. Thought I would do a quick weekend trip to Six Flags since I have not been to this park since Mr Freeze opened in 96, 97?? Anyway, just wondering how crowded will it be? It's impossible for me to do weekdays so I hope Sunday is at least better than Saturday. Will it be unbearably hot too?? Any help appreciated! Also need to know strategy (what rides to hit first)
robbalvey Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 ^ I'm sure it will be busy...but I'd strongly recommend Q-Bot. And of course, if you could change your plans to the following weekend you could go to Texas Giant Bash!!!
samisthabomb Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Go on a Sunday, the crowds are usually a little lighter. Like Robb said, you will probably still want to invest in a Flash Pass. And it shouldn't be too hot, Texas doesn't really heat up until mid-May.
Sportsdude360 Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Ride The New Texas Giant! Best possible advice!
ScoMikey Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Sunday will be the best day to maximize your experience...as noted attendance is always lower. Plus that sunday is the first sunday the park stays open till 9pm....so more 2 hours to play. My personal strategy would be to NOT hit the new giant at opening as everyone will still be rushing for it and causing it to have the longest lines of the day in the morning. I'd hit up batman/mr freeze since they are on the farthest end of the park. Even though they were there when you came last they are still both great rides.
sixflagsguy5 Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I've always gone to the Mr. Freeze section first for some reason. I would get a flashpass just because your time at the park is limited to one day and you're already paying to fly out there. Keep in mind that La Vibora has a single rider line (last time I went), which will save you at least an hour on a busy day. I would imagine that Texas Giant and Titan will be very busy. Personally I would have gone the next weekend to do Texas Giant Bash, but it sounds like you already bought your ticket and probably have a reason for choosing that weekend. Have fun
webgoof Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Yes, La Vibora, Big Spin, and Superman (the combo tower) all have single-rider lines that usually cut wait time by a lot! Assuming you don't Q-Bot, hit Batman and Mr. Freeze 1st...they're probably going to be walk-on. I'd go for Runaway Mountain next, as it gets more and more popular as the day gets warmer. (if you have a q-bot, you can play with the order a good bit) By mid/late afternoon, Titan seems to not be as busy. You'll need to play NTAG by ear, but for comparison's sake, assuming the ride runs efficiently, as it has been so far, and barring breakdowns/etc. it takes about an hour to go from the old Chap house (now just a red building with the switchbacks) to the station.
tanthonyam Posted April 28, 2011 Author Posted April 28, 2011 Thanks for the advice! I will for sure use the single rider lines.
Sportsdude360 Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Actually, Titan eats queue lines for breakfast. As long as they're running at least two trains the line on Titan never stops moving. If you plan to come alone why not get there early and join the "running of the bulls". I did that on NTAG's opening day, as a result I was able ride both NTAG and Titan within an hour of park opening.
