A.J. Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I agree with that. RCT2 has so much more of a following than RCT3 because it's more accessible to players (lower graphics requirement). I play RCT2 more than RCT3 because I'm lazy and I don't like having to make the insides of buildings.
QueerRudie Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I agree with that. I play RCT2 more than RCT3 because I'm lazy and I don't like having to make the insides of buildings. That statement just made my day.
mcjaco Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 And it doesn't take twenty minutes to load up, even if you're running it on WOPR.
A.J. Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 It's getting to be that time. The kiddies (and the cash-deficient bigger kids like myself) are back in school, and it seems like traffic in the games forum is down across the board. We have no entries for this week's contest, we only had two for last week. Traffic in the exchange itself seems to have also started to spiral downward. Would this infer that Track of the Week should be a summer-only thing, or should we go back to the original plan of not having any specific type at all, and just include every track uploaded that week in the pool?
robbalvey Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 If you guys want to put it on hiatus, and try something else, I'm cool with that.
QueerRudie Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I'm sort of for that, after this week's contest: I'm a bit 'thin' on ideas right now, and think mabye a four to six week break might be in order- at least till more ideas can be funneled in.
mcjaco Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I'd say we come up with a "bigger" contest for Thanksgiving break. And another one for the Holiday breaks. And if you guys could find a way to get more hours in a day, I'm for that too. As long as they're to be used as non-work hours.
QueerRudie Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Hmmmm... Idea there: Theming up the ToTW contests for the holiday periods: For T-Day, have a 'Pilgrim/new to North America theme; for X-mas, well, I've got a soft spot for Futurama, and would love to do a X-MAS themed track- something akin to SantaBot's return via track; For NYD, something related to Hangovers... er... Inappropriate consumption of alcohol. (Inverted/SLC).
robbalvey Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 I do like the idea of putting track of the week on hiatus and focusing on a bigger contest that is either monthly or tied to a holiday period. Maybe even do a 'best christmas themed park?" Also, the un-official word on the street (meaning you can post anything about it) is that RCT4 has been shelved. The DS game is still coming out, but there were plans for a much bigger sequel, that is no longer happening.
mcjaco Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Wonder if the movie will ever see the light of day, or if it does, a game sequel will re-emerge. I say we do something along the lines of a Turkeyday contest, and then a Frosty/Rudolph/Hannakuh Harry/Santa themed contest for the Holidays.
QueerRudie Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 OK, so I'll post the last ToTW for a while up today (We already announced this week, and there are a few people interested; I'm dedicating it to Ron Toomer for appropriate tie-in.) TPR Challenge for next month (October) is a RCT II scenario - all 'non-intense' rides for the nausea prone; I think this one will get some atention; more details to be forthcoming. Novemeber challenge is a mystery to me; still trying to figure out something: Perhaps roll the T-Day Themed Track contest into that in place of the TPR Challenge/use the TPR challenge AS the themed track contest?
robbalvey Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 (edited) Was there ever a winner for the last track of the week contest? Edited October 25, 2011 by robbalvey
QueerRudie Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Nobody every voted for it- but with the efforts put into the two we had, I sent e-mails to the two entrants, asking if they wanted me to either split the prize up (A DVD each) or to put the idea out for a vote. If I don't hear back from them in the next few days, I'll go ahead and split the prize.
