thrillrider
During our spur of the moment tour of the east coast this past summer, we swung by lake compounce for a few hours. After getting lost and not being able to find the entrance of the park(damn gps), we arrived just after park opening. The park is located just accross the street from ESPN. The size of the park was near the size of holiday world. They also had free soft drinks. It was a nice park, with a great coaster called "boulder dash".There were also a few other coasters. They had a boomerang, another wooden coaster, and a kiddy coaster. Enjoy...... Not much else in this state but lake compounce. The park is right accross the street from ESPN. We made it!!! In order to get to the park, you need to take the tunnel!!! Sweet... I love the old rotor rides. Too bad they just removed it. Me and chris took it for a spin. This park has a nice collection of flat rides. Nice setting for the pirate ride. The first coaster of the day was the "zoomerang". It was a typical boomerang, but not quite as ruff as some I have been on. The line moves quite well. Every good park has a dark ride, and this park is no exception. Nice detail. A car being loaded in the station. While in line, they have a video playing that tells you all about the story. Ferris wheel. I love these type rides. The park had a s&s swing ride as well. I have been waiting to ride this for a long time. And for good reason. You really can't see much of the ride from the ground. The ride is hidden in the trees. The lift hill. Station porn..... The crew was on top of things. Random shot. The return run back to the station is pure bliss. The park was very buisy. Lake compounce has a classic merry go round. See... This wipeout ride was relocated from lake compounce's sister park kennywood. The park has a classic trolly ride that saves you a bunch of walking. Just like Mr Roggers... It takes you to the other end next to the sky lift. Boulder dash was just a blur. The lift gives you some great views of the area. Not sure what this is for. Lots of trees.... The turnaround at the top. On the way down, you get a good view of the water park. And the rapids ride as well. Another insane view of boulde dash. The park had another wooden coaster. There must have been a gravy buffet here at one time. The turn into the station. I think this was the run to the lift. The station was packed because they were only running one train. This ride looks nice, but is brutal. It was so bad, that the people that were in the first car, were flung out. Lift hill. Turn around. The park also has a drop tower ride. I love the theaming and name. Before we left the park, we had to try a fried bat. I suggest that you try a fried bat as well.

alpengeist04
Nice job on the trip report. I agree with you on Wildcat being brutal. It's in my bottom 5 at the moment for wooden coasters, but having Boulder Dash in my top 3 definitely makes up for that.
samisthabomb
Wonderful TR! I'm sad to hear they took out the Rotor, those rides are getting very hard to find.
Wood Dragon 1988
Great TR...Lake Compounce is my favorite park. To me it's just perfect. It's small, but has just enough. My second favorite coaster, plenty of flats, a small water park, a beautiful lake and mountain setting, and almost no corporate feel at all. I love how you can swim in that natural lake. You see so many overcrowded, dirty wave pools in parks these days, but you don't see many real lake where you can swim in.
BaMiTsPaT
I love Lake Compounce, but unfortunately I was not able to make it out there last summer because I was quite busy getting ready to go away to college and going to SFNE . I really like your pictures; they give a really good look at this small beautiful park!
