Top 10 Movies of 2010

I really liked True Grit. The new Nightmare on Elm Street was pretty good, too. Some more movies I liked were Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 1, Unstoppable, Tron, and Shutter Island. Not sure if I could pick a top ten, though.

I saw 20 movies that were released in 2010, so it's fairly easy to come up with a top ten.

 

1. Inception

2. Toy Story 3

3. True Grit

4. The Social Network

5. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

6. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

7. Tron: Legacy

8. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

9. Alice in Wonderland

10. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

 

Note that in the above list, 4-6 are all really close, and 8-9 are almost tied. In addition, I really enjoyed the following movies as well: Iron Man 2, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Robin Hood, and The A-Team. These four movies, however, just didn't make the list because there was something that edged it out. Prince of Persia would probably be #11 on the list, but I don't know how I'd rake the others.

 

Undisputed worst movie of 2010: Vampires Suck. I am VERY, VERY, VERY glad I didn't go see this in theaters because, while not the worst movie I have ever seen, it sucked.

In no order what so ever

 

Easy A - A simple joy of a movie, funny, touching and finally a return to the great teen films of the late John Hughes.

 

Inception - Christopher Nolan is back after the long, boring Dark Knight.

 

Black Swan - Outstanding, the final moments are hauting, edge of your seat brilliance. A film that can be taken on so many levels!

 

Kick Ass - The year started off with this, fast, funny film. Loved It.

 

The Kings Speech - Who would have guessed that a strutting King would have you on the edge of your seat.

 

I am sure there where others, but really the list of shit movies for the year, far outweight the good ones.

I guess we might have to make an attempt at watching Inception again. Neither Michael or I understood all of the ravings it got, but have heard that you gain more insight the more you watch it (?). Not sure if I'm into movies that I need to watch three times in order to get the jist of it though...perhaps we're just stupid or missed some sort of major plot twist, but neither of us liked it.

 

Maybe I'm one of the weirdos, but I liked Alice in Wonderland. I was hoping that it would have been a little more psychadelic and bizarre with the 3D effects, but we both thought it was pretty cool.

 

Unfortunately, I can't name a Top Ten for 2010. We saw Clash of the Titans, Tangled, Shutter Island and a few other unmemorable movies in the theatre of which I cannot remember at this time.
