Investment firm TMH Studios announces acquisition of Gelato Lake Amusements

TMH Studios has confirmed the ten-million dollar acquisition of Michigan's Gelato Lake Amusements, a purchase that will include Gelato Lake Amusement Park, as well as other regional attractions including "Castle Park Go Carts" and Wisconsin Dell's "Cavalcade Canyon" water park. TMH Studios has been quick to unveil plans for a multi-million dollar Tom Royce, head investor, introduced the general public to some of the re-hauled Gelato Lake's new attractions.

"The park currently has a major in-balance of attractions, and the the TMH Studios investment firm hopes to fix those problems with the addition of a Maurer Söhne custom build Xtended Spinning Coaster."

Here's an artist rendition of Gelato Lake's future, the focus property of the Gelato Lake Brand property re-haul.

Its name-sake is pretty obvious here.

 

In 2002, with the projected re-opening of Gelato Lake, TMH Studios hopes to re-generate a tired park. "We hope to expand and compete with our nearby competitor, Michigan's Adventure, by catering to all crowds," says spokesperson Linda Catsfellow.

with NCS its always hard to build a good looking park. But I think this is pretty good. I like the log flume so far good luck with the rest of the park!

/\/\Lag was getting pretty bad on Twisted Oaks and the park was just uninspired. No guarantee it will stay gone forever, but I think this is an improvement. Thanks.

Cavalcade Canyon Water Park confirms new attractions

Today we will take a look at the 2nd of 3 properties gained from the purchase of Gelato Lake Amusements, Cavalcade Canyon Water Park. Cavalcade Canyon is situated in the Wisconsin Dells, a very competitive market for both theme parks and water parks. With rigorous expansion, Cavalcade Canyon hopes to become the must-see destination in the Wisconsin Dells.

For those of you unfamiliar with the park, Cavalcade Canyon is set in a rustic-themed hollow with country atmosphere. Currently, the park has a small handful of wet and dry attractions. A tall slide structure topped with a water tower is the centerpiece of the park, home to both Hoot'n'Holler water slides, and the Double Doozy speed slides. The other "wet" attraction is a pan-for-gold type attraction where guests can step into a waist-deep running river and pan for gold.

Skloosh! go riders into the splash pool from the Ole' Water Tower.

 

Cavalcade Canyon offers a wide variety of dry attractions as well to compliment the rest of the park. "Quick Draw" (pictured below) is the park's comedic stunt show. Rotar is themed to an out-of-control cannery in which guests are stuck in the middle. The Cavalcade Canyon Railroad takes guests on a trip through the backwoods from the comfort of a covered train. The Cavalcade Canyon Mystery Spot is a wacky shack walk through were guests question the works of gravity, similar to the long gone attraction from Knotts Berry Farm.

 

Park officials have already confirmed that Cavalcade Canyon will experience a rapid expansion in both dry and wet attractions in the upcoming years. "We plan on adding new attractions on a yearly basis to keep the park fresh, starting this upcoming year."

 

A new set of slides is set to debut opening day when the park reopens, stemming from the Ole' Water Tower slide structure. It will be the park's longest slides to date and will provide plenty of fun for the entire family.

I like the Idea of putting a roof underneath the Intamin just before the straight pike. It would make more of a feeling of being lifted into the air. Nice Sslide tower aswell!

Former "Castle Park and Go-Karts" receives re-brand and announces new attraction

Like Gelato Lake, Castle Park and Go-Karts was built as a companion park before the purchase of Cavalcade Canyon in 2000. Castle Park and Go-Karts opened in 1998 to luke-worm responses, its eventual decline a main reason for Gelato Lake's financial failure. The park opened with a medieval themed entrance plaza, home to a large castle and a giant Vekoma wooden coaster, Excalibur. On the other side of the park guests could find the Castle Park speedway which raced around the bulk of the park and a few other attractions. Entrance to the park was free and guests went from ride to ride on a pay-per-ride basis. Since its opening 4 years ago, the park has seen no new attractions.

TMH_Studios hopes to change the face of Castle Park and Go-Karts with a park-wide rebranding (1). The new park will will now be known as "Castle'n'Carts" (stylized for alliteration). For the 2001 season Castle'n'Carts will receive a massive new attraction, Inertia (2), which will send Go-Karters into a mysterious and sinister abyss with no way out but up. Inertia will test drivers endurance to the maximum as the race through an endless upward spiral in the dark before plunging out the side of the building 40 ft. This will be the first step to give Castle'n'Carts a massive multi-year reboot.

 

Getting Castle'n'Carts back on its feet will be a big challenge, and will require the most work of all three parks. As you can see, the park has lots of wide open spaces and sparse buildings. It will be alot of work to turn this park into a proper amusement park without even the most basic infrastructure.

 

 

Here is a detailed timeline of Gelato Lake Amusements for those interested, to keep things more organized:

1994--Former "Adventure Cove" is purchased by Gelato Lake Amusements, renamed Gelato Lake

1995--Gelato Lake replaces Arrow Wild Mouse with Mack powered Coaster

1996--Gelato Lake is enclosed, begins single entry fee method of operation.

1997--"Frisbee" opens at Gelato Lake

1998--Gelato Lake Amusements opens first ever self-built park, Castle Park and Go Karts

1999--Troubled and constantly malfunctioning Intamin Space Diver Coaster is finally torn down and replaced with Burst, Intamin Impulse Coaster.

2000--Gelato Lake Amusements purchases Cavalcade Canyon from Silver Dollar City.

*six months later, Gelato Lake Amusements is acquired by TMH_Studios after financial troubles.

2001--all three parks set to open a major attraction.

+Dizzy Doozy, a Maurer Söhne custom build Xtended Spinning Coaster will open at Gelato Lake.

+Jump-Frog Falls, a dueling downhill water slide, will open at Cavalcade Canyon water park.

+Inertia, a multi-level in the dark Go Kart will open at Castle'n'Carts.

 

 

In addition, gearing up for the upcoming season, the park has released new adds detailing all 3 parks. Yeah, I know its pretty crappy... just wanted to give you an idea of the locations. Ignore my horrible attempt at making it look attractive. ;D

 

 

As always, give yourself a cookie if you took the time to read all my spleening on and on. This update was mostly just a bunch of words an a basic base for a park I whipped up this morning... I mainly wanted to wrap up the introduction to the three parks and give a good feel for the parks as a whole.

P.s.-Kansas City, MO is misplaced on the map. It's actually where the North-South border of Missouri meets the wiggly border (the Missouri River).

Trans-Park Progress Report

Attractions are testing at Gelato Lake; all except for Dizzy Doozy which is just wrapping up construction.

 

Over at Cavalcade Canyon, the park inspector seems to be plotting something out--what's going on with the park entrance? From what I've gathered, the entrance will be pushed back further to make room for a new minor attraction. Nothing to major.

In addition, Cavalcade Canyon has been releasing some promo images recently, this being the second, similar to the posters at Disneyland's entrance tunnel.

 

Before the Gelato Lake Amusements parks were sold, a major fire broke out destroying some of Castle'n'Carts fantastic main street buildings. Construction workers have been working non-stop to fix all damage done to the right side. The ride side of the main street is more medieval Europe in terms of style, while the left side takes on a grand castle. Castles'n'Parks open before the two other parks so you can expect a full opening day report in the near future. The right side does end suddenly--most of the end section won't be rebuilt at this time.
