IBtacoDave Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Great TR! I was at the park the day after your visit and noticed maintenance focusing on LoCoSuMo's elevator lift. I did see it testing from time to time throughout the day so hopefully it will be open soon. I thought Hoosier Hurricane was running much smoother than last year. This may be due to the blue trains, which I don't recall them using at all last season. I also noticed an interesting new sign on the taco stand (graphic designers shield your eyes now, you have been warned!), and a new place for stroller/wheelchair rental. I'm no expert, but I think it might be a problem with the lift. The sign reads "Home of the Worlds Best Tacos as seen on The Food Network" New for 2010! Formerly a toy/gift shop
larrygator Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I like the tacos at IB, but I think their greatness is blown out of proportion because the rest of the food at the park is subpar.
jamesdillaman Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 ^ Except the loaded ribbon fries on the boat... OMG those are good.
mcjaco Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I noticed your photo of Lost Coaster (showing that it's closed) ... I'm planning a trip down there this weekend so I called the park, and Lost Coaster is not currently running. I was just chatting with a girl in the office so I couldn't really ask for details, but she said that it will not be operating this weekend. No idea what is wrong with it, but hopefully it'll be back up soon; it certainly isn't the cornerstone of the park, but it is fun and unique. For me I know I'm going to have an amazing visit regardless (always do ), but wanted to mention it for other people who might be planning a visit. Cam, weren't they pretty much running one train on it all last year? I have a new favorite coaster everytime I go. With the exception of Galaxi.
angryemobeaver Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Man I miss Indiana Beach so much! I planned on buying a season pass and going like once a week, but no one is hiring near me so I don't have the money to get a pass. And I haven't even been to IB at all this year yet! It's one of my favorite parks for so many reasons, the awesome atmosphere, the tons of flat rides, the randomness, and of course Cornball Express and the other coasters! Like others have said, you must of rode Cornball on a bad day because for me, it's almost as good as Voyage. My favorite seat is 2-1 because every single hill offers crazy ejector airtime! The back is also a really good seat because of the first drop! Where did you ride at on Hoosier Hurricane because I don't really care for the ride, and I've never experienced any airtime at all on it.
saginawhxc Posted June 11, 2010 Author Posted June 11, 2010 I wouldn't mind going back later this summer and grabbing a campground and staying for a couple of days. How busy does this park get during the summer?
spaceace12 Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I wouldn't mind going back later this summer and grabbing a campground and staying for a couple of days. How busy does this park get during the summer? I been to the beach when it has been jammed in summer, then I been in the summer when it has been dead. I may end up going sometime before the ACE event in July.
Cameron Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 ^^ The campground is very cool, highly recommended. I also suggest you rent a boat (or wave-runner) and spend some time out on the lake. There's a rental place just north of the park. weren't they pretty much running one train on it all last year? In 2008 it was only running one train, last year it was mostly both trains (although I think one was having problems .. Don't quote me on that though).
