1976: Park Opening

(taken from local newspaper)

Wow, what a day! Roller coaster enthusiast Alex Sennenato here reporting to you with all the details of "Paradise Point"'s first day in operation.

Full queues all day! Let me just say, they did a good job exposing this park to the general public. I waited over an hour and a half for the park's star attraction, Cliffhanger. This insane ride packs a ton of airtime in it's hills, and lots of G-forces in it's sharp turns. It was definitely the crowd favorite. And, don't let it fool you...the largest drop isn't until AFTER the first!

I also got a ride on "Mountain Madness", the park's semi-kiddie coaster that swerves through high mountains and sharp turns. A great ride!

"Mountain Cafe" is the restaurant located in the park. The burgers are superb, and the fries are mouth-watering.

My only complaint is the pathways. There were some pretty steep steps, and it felt like a mess. The entry plaza was beautiful, though.

Until next time, this is Alex Sennenato signing out!

Is that an airtime (in Cliffhanger) hill I see over the treetops?

And here we have the first drop.

1977: Season Two

Good news! Alex Sennenato reporting to you again in time for the park's second season. I'd like to congratulate the owner's for an extremely successful first season.

But what thriving park doesn't have additions for a new year? Paradise Point has brought in two more flat rides to add to it's collection.

As you make your way down the entrance plaza, you will now see a set of stairs heading up the hill, leading on to the park's future expansions. It gets tiring walking them after a while- but I'm sure I needed the exercise!

Now onto the the new attractions. We've now got "Happy Horizon", a Ferris Wheel that gives you breathtaking views as you can see over the mountaintops.

And of course we have the classic "Scrambler", which is hidden under the shady trees.

Enjoy some of these pictures!

For the second time, this is Alex Sennenato signing out!

1978: Third Season

The park added no new roller coasters or flat rides (and I admit, the same-old same-old is getting a bit boring)... but it sure knows how to cook up a good meal!

The park opened it's new restaurant, "Waterfall Diner". Looking at the title, I wonder what that could be?

Yep, you guessed right! It's a themed restaurant serving seafood! Guests will enjoy their favorite meals while overlooking a beautiful man-made waterfall. (Park executives also hinted that it will soon overlook something else! Want to guess what that is?)

"Waterfall Diner"!

The waterfall looks a little off, and I'm pretty sure if they were sitting in the restaurant, they wouldn't be able to see the waterfall, but the entrance to the place looks really unique. Just try to keep things from becoming to blocky. Good start though!

Thanks!

This park is pretty much my first try at building some actual buildings, so I'm sure I'll improve in the near future.

And yeah, but there would be nice sound effects inside and I meant for there to be a patio outside, but I figured that might ruin how it looked. Oh, well.

Next update coming soon!

1979: Season Four

It's big...

it's bad...

it's the solution to thrill seeker's everywhere...

it's...

"The Guardian".

AS reporting to you again on "Paradise Point"'s brand new, terrifying coaster... "The Guardian"!

Standing at 110-feet tall, looming above the entry plaza, you'll find it hard to miss this monster as it guards the mountain from unwanted visitors.

Drop 108 feet into the hills below you, shoot into nice airtime hills, and dive into an underground tunnel as you await the second half.

Twist and turn, barely dodging hillsides and treetops, this is sure to leave you screaming for hours. (I know I was!)

Though it's a relatively short ride, it's still a keeper for sure. You get loads of airtime as well. What a nice addition to the park...it will be sure to satisfy the general public for years.

There are two stations, an entrance station and an exit station.

Enjoy some pictures I took...

Watch riders face the Guardian in the queue line. (NOTE: I forgot to add the supports on the other side of the tent!)

Could we maybe get another POV shot please.

I love the layout of the woodie. It's seems very original. I'm still waiting for some flats, but you have a great start!

Sure!

1979 (1) 10.bmp

Final turnaround.

And I know I'm lacking in the flats, when I was making the scenario I was sure I added rides like the waveswinger and well, pretty much a lot more. But I guess something messed up, and I only had basic gentle and thrill rides (or at least ones that were avalible in the 70s). So yeah.

And thanks so much!

1980: Season Five

Bring on the '80s!

Although I wanted a huge, massive, amazing new coaster, I had to realize that "The Guardian" will be the newest for a while. Perhaps a ride that goes upside down soon?

Ah well, what we got this year was "Teacups", which, yeah, was a new teacups flat ride for the kiddies.

1980 1.bmp

Yeah, a good addition to their flats.

Oh yeah, and did I mention the huge expansion their currently working on right now? Check this article I found in a (rival! sshh...) newspaper.

PARADISE POINT ready to give WINTER THRILLS

This Winter, prepare to be amazed."Paradise Point", which has offered us five years of thrills so far, isn't going to let winter and cold weather stop it from giving the public a good time- coming this Thanksgiving, it's "The Christmas Village"! (working title).

Enjoy live shows, hot food, and even some rides not open for the regular season. An entire section of the park will be used for the new winter area...

That pretty much sums it up! I'll be sure to get there opening weekend to take some photos for you all to enjoy. But for now, enjoy some construction photos.

1980 2.bmp

A kiddie coaster is being constructed. I'm assuming it'll be open if weather permits, but I hear they're inserting some type of heater to keep the track from freezing up. You can also see the indoor ice rink in the bottom left corner.

1980 4.bmp

Entrance sign being constructed. They expect basic construction to be done by July, and then they'll be putting down some nice fake snow and adding "snowy" trees to give it more of a christmas feel. Stay tuned, and I will report to you what's going on opening day!

Sorry what i meant to ask for was an overview shot.

I like the location of the Tea Cups, even though the que seems a little long. Also I am kind of complexed as far as the supports for the kiddie coaster lift? Other than that keep it coming!

They're not supports, just head-chopper like scenery.

Thanks, again!

But that's not all! Winter Village has it's own personal Ice-Rink, where guests can skate to their desires, taking a break for "Paradise's Spectacular Ice Show",which takes place twice every operating night and lasts for about an hour.

WINTERFEST 4.bmp

Indoor Ice Skating Rink.

Behind the ice rink is an amazing "Snowball Rink", where guests participate in organized snowball fights and capture the flag. They are usually split up into two teams, except for "Last Man Standing", which is every man for himself.

WINTERFEST 6.bmp

Sounds like a lot of fun! The team's territories are split up by a small fence.

In the middle of everything is an elevated stage, where there will be spectacular live shows, singing holiday carols and performing wonderful dances. Guests can sit in the stadium-like seats to watch all the action.

To the left is the live stage.

WINTERFEST 7.bmp

View from guest's vantage point (kind of).

Also, enjoy some hot chocolate, wonton soup, and hot burgers in Winter Village's restaurant.

Also, there's a cool arcade (heated, by the way!) where guests can warm up and have fun.

WINTERFEST 11.bmp

(ignore the trees, they're outside the park's border ):

Wow! With all these live shows, rides, snowball fights, and ice-skating, this is sure to be a hit! Opening day was pretty crowded, but I'm sure crowds will die down a bit in the middle of December. Paradise Point really outdid themselves on this one, and it just gives me another reason to not be able to wait until NEXT holiday season!

Thanks for reading, and remember, COMMENT please!

Wow! Thanks everyone!

triggernel: This section of the park is only open during the winter/holiday months, while the rest of the park is closed. For the regular season, the fake snow will be taken out so it won't stand out so much. The kidie coaster, snow cups, and other live shows will be closed during the regular season.

More updates coming soon!

1981: Season Six

Nothing new this year. But, I've heard they're planning something big for next year... (I've seen some construction)

...

1982: Season Seven

Hear it's mighty roar the next time you visit Paradise Point! The "Mountain Lion" is a 115ft-tall Arrow inverting coaster. It flips you upside-down 3, yes 3, times! Located in the back of the park in it's own section, this ride will keep you thrilled for years. Check out some of the photos...

mountain lion 8.bmp

Unfortunately, this ride has caused much stress for the owners of Paradise Point...

There were many problems during the construction of the ride. Conflicts with Arrow Dynamics, and the budget and difficulties of the ride (because of the constant change in elevation of land) were overwhelming. Construction was delayed because of the quarrel, but Paradise Point went through with the plan to construct the coaster. Construction was done just two weeks before the park was set to open for the season, but PP was still determined to release it. With quick testing, and a few tweaks, it opened with the park to many's shock. But, there was a downside- the queue and ride station were very poorly built. The section where the ride's located is very empty and it seems like a turn-away for the general public.

Why don't they just fix it now that he seasons started? Well, it's not that simple. The park is now in HUGE debt- workers are being laid off, which leads me to believe that the rides and areas won't be as perfectly maintained anymore. They are also planning on raising the entry fee a whopping 10 DOLLARS during the summer. So even more families will be turned away.

I'll make sure to update you as soon as possible.

It still depends how much a ticket is right now as well

I like the story line, and The arrow looks nice as well. But when I think about a lion, or even a mountian lion, I think a bolder color choice would be nice as well? Just an Idea, but still, good park so far.
