Hey all,

i am going to visit the west coast in 2 days (from May 26th to June 7th)

This was our plan:

27. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

28. Californias Great America

29. trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles

30+31. Six Flags Magic Mountain

01+02. Universal Studios Hollywood

03+04. Disneylan California

05. Hollywood

06. Knott Berry Farm

But now I realized that Discovery Kingdom is closed at May 27th, so we drive over night to L.A. (Im sure when I planned the tour their homepage said that they are open, but nevermind, looks like I failed )

27. ?

28. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

29. Californias Great America

30+31. Six Flags Magic Mountain

So now we got a new free day in San Francisco, does anyone has a suggestion what 2 coaster junkies can do there ?

Maybe some sightseeing highlights?

Thank you.

Rollerblade down Lombard Street!

If you're into Walt Disney, go check out the Walt Disney Family Museum.

I went there in February but only had about an hour to look around the place, I could have easily spent at least half a day there.

Also try:

Alcatraz (buy your tickets early and online)

Pier 39

Clam Chowder in a bread bowl at Fisherman's Wharf

Bike riding across the Golden Gate Bridge

^ Pier 39 is indeed nice and from there you have a good view on Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.

During our 'free' day before the WCT last year, we walked from there in the direction of the needle building and went for some shopping over there.

^I absolutely second that!

Here's a caveat copied from their site:

Limited Operation

On Limited Operation Days, some rides and areas of the park are closed. Visitors should expect 5 major rides and 2 “Kiddie” rides to be open, weather permitting. Parking is half-price ($5) and “All Day Wristbands” are discounted to $19.95 plus tax on Limited Operation Days. Rides typically open on Limited Operation Days include at least 5 of the following: Giant Dipper, Double Shot, Fireball, Hurricane, Pirate Ship, Carousel, or Bumper Cars. Plus two of the following Kiddie rides: Starfish, Jet Copters, or Speedway. Please call (831) 423-5590 the day of your visit to confirm open rides.

It looks like they list 7 "major rides", so there's a good chance the Dipper would be one of them!

Santa Cruz is an amazing park.

It's a great overall experience, and Giant Dipper is a very fun classic woodie! I actually don't think there's a bad ride in the park, they all run great and there's a good variety during full operation.
