JimmyBo Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Tombstone, Arizona has turned into a tourist trap but it's still a great day trip for anyone in the area. Cassie and I took this trip with Cassie's Grandma and her history comes from Tombstone and the Mining area around it. I won't bore you all with her family history but I will entertain you all with some pictures taken from a day at Tombstone. Enjoy and if you're ever in the area and want to go to Tombstone with yours truly then shoot me a message! Here we are, the good old Wild West A look down at the scenic dirt road that still has original buildings from the good old days If you want dinner (or lunch) and a show then check this place out The old Bed and Breakfast building which now has some amazing Ice Cream downstairs Transportation to get around the old Wild West Golden Eagle Brewery...which sadly is no a brewery and I was not able to get drunk there. A look down the other way of good old Tombstone Time for lunch...an original bar back from the day that cowboys roamed the streets and prostitution was legal Inside the Saloon. It was awesome! You can't go wrong with a Sassy Sasparilla (unless it's poisoned) Tombstone became a city because of the mining and they actually let people down in the mines. No thanks, since all the mines have been collapsing as of late The mining area of Tombstone where they mined for the seven dwarves of Snow White This is a Tombstone Rose...take a good look at it because this beast is what's making everyone's allergies act up this year They have a shoot-out "stunt" show with food and stuff. It's pretty lame and that's why I put quotes around "stunt". The only "stunt" thing about it is that a guy tripped and got shot...BAM! Tombstone Courthouse for all those legal nerds out there. Interesting fact...this is now a Historic Landmark but before it was, Cassie's great grandparents got married in it...WOW! Inside the Courthouse they turned it into a musuem for old stuff...this is an old roulette wheel Yes! We got invited to see a hanging! I can't wait! Pretty eerie looking and what a way to die Cassie ringing the old Firehouse bell Funny thing is...all those books look like the same books in my dad's office. I guess lawyers don't update their books very often The Old Courthouse...pretty neat looking this is the infamous Birdcage Theater. If you haven't heard of this then here's a brief history: Men went there to get laid...legally. It's considered one of the most haunted sites in the US and several gunfights took place in the theater and some of the bullets are still in the walls. Inside the front entrance where you get a brief history about the palce and learned that the "Birdcage Doves" were prostitutes that slept with several men a night Up the stairs is where all of the "Birdcage Cribs" are where the ladies would do whatever the man wants them to do The painting has hung on that wall since it was brought to the Theater and there are several bullet holes through the painting. That's where a drunk cowboy shot at the host (and missed) and left this bullet hole...the bullet is still in the wood In other words...the doves go the men drunk and took their money This is inside the theater looking up at the "Cribs" More "Cribs" with creepy people staring at you Each lady had their own "Crib" and decorated it any way that they wanted to That is the original Curtain from when this theater was a hot spot for plays, shows, card games, and legal prostitution An old card game that I can't figure out today This is a painting of the longest continuous card game ever...It was something like 3 years 8 months or 8 years 3 months...I can't remember but it was freaking long! There are still bullets where these bullet holes are These are the "Soiled Doves" of the Birdcage Theater. They have their pictures all up on the wall so that everyone can see how beautiful they were A history about the Old Hearse that took everyone to Boothill Cemetery The Old Hearse. I admit, looking at this thing and standing there for a little bit didn't feel so good...it felt as if 100 people were staring at me If you've ever seen the movie "Tombstone" and remember a certain someone dying in the main gunfight...this is the exact coffin he was lying in during the movie More "Doves" that look you straight in the eye Another "Dove" with an awesome hat This was a child's potty training seat back in the day...which was a Wednesday Time to go downstairs where the really creepy come out and play Look at this picture carefully because after this update I will post one from the same exact spot but it has a ghost coming down the stairs This was the table where the longest card game ever was played...pretty small table for such a long game Brothers Wyatt and Johnny and their whore Josie. I mean their "Dove" Josie...sorry Josie More of downstairs with a bar and more tables Need something at the bar? Ask the creepy people to get it for you This is the Wine Cellar where they kept all the booze. Again, taking this picture felt eerie because it felt as if someone was looking right back at me This is one of the "Soiled Doves" room's where some lucky men got to spend extra time with their lady And here's another portion of the room. Downstairs there were only 2 rooms but there were 8 "Cribs" up in the Theater Area And here's the other room. That's the Birdcage Theater and Tombstone. Up next are Birdcage Theater Ghosts! Read on!
JimmyBo Posted May 20, 2010 Author Posted May 20, 2010 Here's what some of you wanted to see. Birdcage Theater Ghosts! If you remember the picture I took looking up the stairs in the previous update...this is the exact same spot but something looks different. The people at the Birdcage Theater say it's a lady with a hat on holding her dress up as she's walking down the stairs. This ghost scares the crap out of everyone right as you walk into the Theater. This creepy ghost will serve you drinks at the bar downstairs if you are nice to him In all seriousness, the Birdcage Theater is haunted whether you believe that sort of stuff or you don't. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a picture of a ghost (and I really wanted to) but this place is definitely worth the visit no matter what. So get out here and check out Tombstone, AZ and the Birdcage Theater.
BeemerBoy Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Awesome! I love this stuff! Thanks for posting, Jimmy.
cfc Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 I remember an episode of SyFy's Ghost Hunters where they invedtigated the Birdcage Theater. They came out convinced it was haunted. Thanks for the TR, Jimmy--always wanted to visit Tombstone.
JimmyBo Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 ^Almost every "Ghost Hunting" show has gone to the Birdcage Theater but I still recommend the Ghost Adventures Episode over all the other shows.
J man Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Nice! I can't say I've ever been down to Tombstone before. But now I'm tempted to. Maybe I can try to get some ghost dove action.
JimmyBo Posted May 23, 2010 Author Posted May 23, 2010 ^Jeremy, Let me know when you guys head down there and I'll gladly show you around. Plus, maybe with a couple guys going down there we might have a better chance at one of us getting "Soiled Dove" action. Jimmy "I'd love to have some ghost sex" Bo
TPDave Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 ^ Interesting report Jimmy! I'm un-cultured and had never heard of this place, but I'm intrigued now! Thanks for sharing Dave
