I was thinking maybe I found a way to do downhill breaking like on many rides today.

 

I don't know how to do it so if you want to try it's up to you lol.

 

Here was my idea.

 

Make a track with a downhill section leading into the station or onto a flat break run.

 

Then merge that track with a backwards track with a chainlift going the opposite way of the downhill slope.

 

Set it to a high speed so it's slows but still can roll off the hill without being launched backwards.

 

That's the idea, I don't know if it will work, so if anyone wants to give it a try go ahead.

Wouldn't the backwards track cause the ride to error trap as soon as the train hit it?

 

Tried to get a chain on the back spike of a Face Off type coaster once using the backward track idea. Once I was able to get the error trapper to go away when the train hit the chain and should have been lifted to the top. Instead it just ignored that the chain was there and reversed course just like it normally would. Was very disappointed.

Oh, i'm not sure about that, i'm not good with hacks I was just throwing out the idea. This concept seems to work on a flat coaster track with a launch where the ride hits the lift in reverse and is slowed and eventually reluanched.

 

I didn't know if this could be done, thanks for the answer!

If it definitely works on flat track it should work on slopped tracks as well. My experience with it just gave me no results that of course means nothing. I can't get toggle chain to work either when most others can. When it comes down to it just about anything is possible in RCT2. It is all is just a matter of figuring out a way around the games built in programs using a one or more different hacks to achieve the goal. When (or if) you get it working post a "How To" about it I am sure many players could find it useful including myself.

It'll work, while I've done slow downs for shuttle loops with chains. I've only thought about trying the banking method like you suggested. But it'll defiantly work to answer your question. All you'll have to do is merge a backwards chained hill and have enough speed to pass through the chain. But it would most likely only be one or two chain spots since it will slow down drastically.

 

I might try it on my latest park since I wanted an Intamin Rocket in it somewhere.

Ok so, the regular track and backward lift merged perfectly, but when I go to test the ride it tells me that it's not a complete circuit probably because it the tracks aren't going the same way it doesn't register.

 

Can anyone find a work around to this, because i'm not good with hacks. I'm still trying to figure it out.

What if you built the whole track backward, set the train in reverse launch mode, (this is the tricky part that I don't know if it is possible) set the train backwards on the track, then used a conventional backwards launch (i.e. not the chain lift launch). This would be possible, except I don't know about flipping the train or not.

 

I'm wonder if there's a way to do it that somehow incorporates the hack that gets a standalone train on a piece of track... you could then route that train somehow back into the station but the other way around.

 

By the way, when is my banner going to change from "about to be banned"? I've been using good grammar for so long. This policy is starting to make me not want to come back here.

^^ Ok i'll try that, but is there anything that changes when merging a coaster with the same track type, do I use the original coaster and build it so it's turned around and over the gap or do I use another coaster to close the gap?

It still says that the circuit is no complete. I'm using a tutorial on how to merge 2 different tracks for different coaster types, not 2 of the same. I'm not sure where to go from here.

It shouldn't matter whether or not the track is the same type. I am really not sure what else could be wrong. Did you try setting the operating mode of the track with the backwards train to powered launch?

I am assume that you are using the merge technique pictured below.

I tried doing it in RCT2 and while I got the coaster to run, I got an error trapper when the train reached the merge.

I think that you may be building the part drawn in red that says, "Merge 2", backwards.

If you have a big speed bump it should be possible with just normal lifts on the hill but U might need to start it right before it hits the hill so it slows down enough
