Watch out world, it can fly. In the spirit of such modern-day B-movies as "Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus" and "Kraken: Tentacles of the Deep," cult film producer Roger Corman ("It Conquered the World") will unleash the newest terror to hit the TV airwaves this weekend: "Dinoshark." This 150-million-year-old underwater monster is wreaking havoc at a tropical resort — and it's up to a young boat captain (Eric Balfour, "Texas Chainsaw Massacre") to reel him in.

Naturally, the ancient beast is hungry for blood, putting the lives of vacationing swimmers and the local fisherman at risk. Unfortunately for our young hero, though, the law enforcement is skeptical — until they set eyes on the prehistoric creature themselves.

What we're a little more skeptical about, however, are the details. Producer Corman is a legend in the B-movie genre, having directed such masterpieces as "The Wasp Woman," "Last Woman on Earth," and "The Intruder" (starring William Shatner), so even the trailer indicates we'll be treated to some of the oversights commonly found in low-budget films. Take the first scene, for instance, where our sporty heroine's hair is suddenly dry, even though she just came out of the water. The special effects are another vision to behold: who knew guns fired off such bright flashes of light in broad daylight? The crackerjack special effects team, that's who! And we have to mention our favorite part where Dinoshark actually jumps out of the water and attacks a helicopter, prompting the question, "It can fly?"

But really, we're just happy to see star Balfour embrace his show-killer status in Hollywood. After killing off a string of TV series — "Veritas: The Quest," "Conviction," "The Ex List" and even, dare we say, the "Life on Mars" remake — we're glad to see this bad-luck guy stick to movies of the week. Will Balfour survive this campy, bloody mess?

Tune in to "Dinoshark" on Syfy Saturday, 3/13 at 9pm.

All Americans should just do themselves a favor and watch SyFy all day on Saturday, from the moment you get up until you go to bed.

My house had a party this Saturday and Dinoshark along with Dinocroc and two encore presentations of Dinoshark were on in the background the entire time. From what I can tell both were pretty much EPIC. Dinoshark was of prehistoric decent, trapped in a glacier, and Dinocroc was created by the typical corporation in Syfy movies that has way too much money, poor intentions, INCREDIBLY white lab coats, the nerdiest glasses ever seen, fun little electric vehicles to travel around in, and the modern building to house their experiments. And if you are going to watch Dinoshark, the last line of the movie is AWESOME
