SLY Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Hi everyone, As most know, you won't receive a new Platinum Pass in 2010 for a renewal; rather they update your current card with your 2010 payment. I went to Dorney Park today to pay in person for my 2010 pass and I was told I didn't need to do anything else. I've also read that if you haven't been "processed," the first park you visit will become your "home park." So, did my "processing" take place today (I only paid a fee and they ran my card -- no photo) or will that take place at my first park visit? I asked specifically but was told "no, this is all you need to do." However, the person helping me also didn't know how to reenter my name or data, so I am a bit concerned with the answer I received. I am planning to visit Knotts long before Dorney opens this year, so I don't want to have any issues. I realize that this isn't the Cedar Fair administration website, but I was hoping someone here might know from experience. Thanks!
larrygator Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Interesting, I had not heard that before. I can't confirm what that means but to play it safe you should bring your receipt with you on that first visit to Knotts.
SLY Posted January 16, 2010 Author Posted January 16, 2010 I am not as concerned with the card not being renewed, but rather having to "process" it at Knott's since it will be my first official park visit for the year. If this was to assign Knott's as my home park, I'd be a bit upset since I would have to renew there next year. I don't know if what I did today was considered "processing" or if that occurs when the park opens in the spring and I enter the gate for the first time. If it's the latter, it's kind of craptacular since there are several CF properties which open in earlier climates before my "home park."
ValleyfairFan Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 You'll be able to renew at any park, from the sounds of it, and they are able to just use the picture you had last year. And if they just scanned the card, then your processing for the next season is already finished.
Orient Wolf Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Dorney Park extended the valadity of your card to the end of the 2010 season. You have completed the necessary tasks for "processing." Your information is being stored in Dorney's database. DP is still considered your home park and you will be able to renew for 2011 at Dorney.
Tbcoasterfan Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Because you paid to renew your card at Dorney Park, that is your home park. So you should have no issue visiting Knott's. I did the very same thing this past year without an issue. Interestingly the ticket taker at Knott's had never seen a Platinum Pass before and was chatting with me about it and Cedar Point (which he had also never heard of).
SLY Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 Thanks. I read somewhere about having to have an updated photo taken at the initial "processing" which obviously didn't occur when I renewed, so I was curious if that was just false information or if I would have trouble. Sounds like everything is ok for now. We'll see in March or April when I visit Knotts!
ginzo Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Renewing your existing card is a huge improvement over having to process each and every year!
SLY Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 If it could be renewed online without having to "process" it things would be great!
