Woogle Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Hi, I'll be visiting WDW end of January 2010. Never been there that time of year and was wondering about the weather and general attendance numbers. All websites says the crowds are light, but what does that really mean? What kind of waiting times are we looking at? What kind of weather can we expect? Some say it will be getting warmer then, and the humidity will also add to the heat, but apparently not enough to make you wear shorts and so on. What are your opinions?
robbalvey Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 We were at WDW in Feb last year and I wore shorts the entire time (then again I only wear pants about 4 days out of the year.) I found crowds to be lighter than summer, but not "dead." You may still need to FastPass your way around the most popular attractions, but other rides may be 30 minutes or less, and you may get lucky and every will be walk-ons. A lot of it will depend on what kind of promotions they have going on at the time. Remember that they have something like 30,000 hotel rooms on property at the Walt Disney World resort and the goal is to fill them all year round. Obviously this doesn't happen, but if they are running one of those "buy 4, get 3 nights free" promotions again, the hotels may be pretty full, which means the parks won't be empty. January is certainly a much better time to go than let's say...July. You'll have fun. --Robb
SharkTums Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Most of the time you'll be good in jeans and a t-shirt. If a cold front comes through (and possibly in mornings and at night) you'll need a hoodie. If a warm front comes through you'll be able to do a water park. The weather in Florida during all times except summer is actually quite unpredictable. We went in early February last year and were freezing for a couple of days, but were at a water park by the end of the week! Crowds should be light indeed...probably 30 - 40 minute waits MAX at the big rides and 20 or less for everything else.
Woogle Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 Thanks. This information really helps. And yes, they do have the pay for 4 stay extra 3 special going on. That is a only way we can afford it coming all the way from South Africa. We'll be sure to pack some warm stuff, but I don't think the water parks will be on our list. At least not this time of year.

dandaman Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 The weather in Florida during all times except summer is actually quite unpredictable. Even more so this year with the El Nino event; Florida's predicted to get a higher chance of severe weather than usual for January and February. Bottom line is, bring at least one of each: jeans, shorts, poncho, what-have-you. (Also, humidity isn't too high in the winter months, but as stated above, things can change quickly!)
