Sasquatch Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 After a total of A WHOLE HOUR in the making, here is my latest twisted creation. It comines constant speed with strong laterals and simply fabulous airtime (especially at the top of the turnaround!), TGG-style! This time, I included a video for non-NL users. Wheeee! EDIT: The video doesn't quite display properly. Darn. 1992_The Spirit of Andrew.nltrack Download, comments vastly appreciated! Overview... goodness?? Airtime goodness Twisty goodness Turnaround goodness Stacked-turn goodness 1992spiritofandrew_0004.wmv POV Video!
Team Thriller Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I LOVE how this thing feels like it could be a real coaster! Your work has always impressed me. I cannot wait to see projects from you in the future. Also thanks for the video. --James
themeparkman25 Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Great coaster with awesome elements. Built very smoothly as well. I really liked the triple stacked track with cheese element as well. Positives: -This thing was very very smooth which improved the ride tenfold. -The element selection. It offered excellent airtime while still being full of hugely banked turns. Great job. Negatives: -PTC's attempt at a GCI drop kind of scares me a little bit. Great coaster though, I really enjoyed every second of it and look forward to other coasters you will make as well.
Sasquatch Posted August 19, 2009 Author Posted August 19, 2009 -PTC's attempt at a GCI drop kind of scares me a little bit. Hmmmm.. Care to explain?
Sasquatch Posted August 19, 2009 Author Posted August 19, 2009 Apologies for the double-post, but i tried to upload the video to Coastertube... the video file uploaded but the page took over an hour to refresh, and when i tried to access my account the page never loaded. Is there anyway you can help, Robb?
themeparkman25 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 GCI is known for their massive "swooping" first drops whereas I see PTC making classic straight drops that do not turn left or right, only up and down. I could just be making things up but when you think about Termy, Renegade, Prowler, Thunderhead, etc, they all have that massive swooping descent. PTC however don't necessarily have that. Maybe its all in my head.
Sasquatch Posted August 20, 2009 Author Posted August 20, 2009 Well Gravity Group, as far as i know, haven't made a coaster with a twisting first drop... But then again, if you look at a POV of Voyage their coasters hardly need it! I guess my woodies are kinda of inspired by TGG and other companies, but they always turn out kinda unique, a bit like my own take on a TGG woodie. Neh, it seems to work ok!
themeparkman25 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 ^Oh ya totally. This was a great coaster and I am not critiquing it by any means, just commenting on the different characteristics it had of the different coaster companies out there.
Sasquatch Posted August 20, 2009 Author Posted August 20, 2009 ^ Well it seems that people like different characteristics of different companies, so why not slam 'em all together and see what happens!
dcxs Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Great ride, cool layout really smooth and I also liked how 3 tracks are stacked upon each other. My only negative thing would be the supports, never seen steel and wood integrated into each other like that and some scenery would be nice. I must ask how did you do the track so smooth? (I always have trouble when building wooden coasters)
Sasquatch Posted August 20, 2009 Author Posted August 20, 2009 I must ask how did you do the track so smooth? (I always have trouble when building wooden coasters) Just practise and experience really! You can judge track shape and banking much better with more experience.
Golfie Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 You put my name in it... thumbs up! The flowing lines of this layout really make it visually stunning. It's a neat concept
Sasquatch Posted September 11, 2009 Author Posted September 11, 2009 You put my name in it... thumbs up! The flowing lines of this layout really make it visually stunning. It's a neat concept Why thankyou! I usually sketch out a rough layout on Paint before I start to build a coaster, although I don't seem to be able to build a good steel coaster at all

It's a neat concept Why thankyou! I usually sketch out a rough layout on Paint before I start to build a coaster, although I don't seem to be able to build a good steel coaster at all It's an overall quality layout,I downloaded it off the NL exchange the other day & I must say that you did an excellent job of handbuilding this track. Woodies may be easier to build because you can enable auto supports in the editor & use that as a rough guide for shaping hills unlike the steel coasters which are harder to shape & even more time consuming to support.
Sasquatch Posted September 12, 2009 Author Posted September 12, 2009 ^ It's not that they consume more time, its just that whenever I try to make a good steel coaster layout, it turns out much better as a wooden coaster! Perhaps it could be fate
