slither37 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Had been watching the weather all week. 80% chance of rain, storms in Sandusky all day, some severe with hail and high winds. Since I have a place to stay and a Platinum Pass, I figured, WTH, still going to go, i will be spending time with the coolest daughter anyway. Turns out, after some early drizzle before 10, weather was perfect. When Kayla and I go to CP, we do not even try to ride everything, so the photos will not be all inclusive, just where we happened to be walking. Luckily I held the camera and you get to see her, NOT me. Anyway, on to the photos. Kayla and the day starting out wet.
slither37 Posted July 26, 2009 Author Posted July 26, 2009 More pics... Last pic, notice those stormy skies. I think Raptor is very photogenic and is my fave at the park... most of the time.... Thanks for reading my trip report. We went back on Sunday morning for the ERT. If Justin who was working Magnum on Sunday reads this, sorry could not chat. Justin noticed my TPR tshirt and said hey. The new fountain is kind of cool, these kids sure think so. Kayla hanging out with Snoopy. I have a very cool daughter. Overall, I am not a huge fan of the food at CP, but one exception is the fries. Of course I had to split my order up as Kayla, gasp, does not like to have her cheese fries swimming in vinegar. The very cute employee from eastern Europe was kind enough to split the fries up for us. More Intamin goodness, this was the 2nd launch forward, Wish I would have waited another split second to get the pic. 80% chance of thunderstorms, some severe with hail and damaging wind! NOT. I really need to be a weatherman. You are responsible to NO ONE. Every report with me would be the same: "May rain, may not, what do I care? it is not like you can sue me or anything" Mmm, Intamin inverted goodness. Wicked Twister, best double twisting LIM invert. Ever. This is another ride that I really enjoy at CP but does not get much love. Which is good, because frequently the line for this one is not too bad. Corkscrew brought to you the American Chiropractic Association, which we no longer ride as we have become accustomed to walking upright and not having debilitating spinal cord injuries. Magnum lift hill...Through the station! Magnum did not have much of a wait either. I know how people feel about this one, but I always have a fun ride as long as I remember to protect my junk on the bunnies after the turn around. Gemini line was a walk on all day, both sides running and actually had a fun ride on this today. Just having fun with the camera, NO my 11 year old daughter was NOT drinking my beer. TEN more years for that to become reality, SHUDDER. 5 more years and this will be reality. AhhhhH!!!!!!!!!! Had to take this one for a certain person on TPR that I know had to use this during Coastermania 2008. This was right after park opening to the GP. Skies clearing up and Maverick was riding great. I thought ops on all the rides were great today. Kayla making sure she beats the running of the bulls to Panda Express. Seriously, if she could, this kid would Panda Express and nothing else. MF finally opened, but only with one train. A 2nd train was added just in time for us to get on it. Skyhawk is testing. Skyhawk is running a longer ride cycle which is great, and not as noisy. Rides come to life, first Wave Swinger....

Every report with me would be the same: "May rain, may not, what do I care? it is not like you can sue me or anything" I actually AM aspiring to be a meteorologist, and I say the same thing. Great TR! Dan "Tonight's forecast: dark." Smith
slither37 Posted July 26, 2009 Author Posted July 26, 2009 Thanks. Was very happy the forecast ended up being wrong. i guess the lake can sometimes change the weather in a hurry.
Philrad71 Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Glad you had a good time! Yes, the weather patterns in the NorthEast (and Great Lakes in particular) have been pounding us with rain and storms this summer. Most seem to be intermittant and can pop up just about anywhere at any time. It is just enough to where you either don't make plans, or do like you did and just say WTF and go anyway - that's what we have been doing here in Western NY too!
scooterdoug Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Lovely TR. Ahhh yes, Sandusky weather. Lake Erie totally creates it's own climate, and no weather forecaster can say what's gonna happen on any given day. Lake Erie decides what the weather will be, and that's that!! Great pictures, makes me want to go back. -Doug
CorkscrewFoley Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I love Sandusky weather, I really do. Because you get a bit of rain, and the Point clears right out which means walk ons fr everything. As for your comment about Wicked Twister, I whole heartedly agree that she doesn't get the love like other coasters. As Dan the Weatherman (sorry dude, it rhymed, and I had to do it), living in Southwestern Ontario, you know what our weather is like...pretty much like Michigan's.
