robbalvey
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/north_east/4733169.stm Four hurt in rollercoaster crash A rollercoaster car has come off its tracks in an amusement park in north Wales, injuring four people. Emergency services said two people, a woman aged 32 and a man aged 30, were taken to hospital with chest and abdominal injuries. The ride was at Ocean Beach amusement park in the seaside town of Rhyl. The car was at ground level when the accident happened on Sunday. The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and investigations are taking place. The Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed that the two people were taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan. The woman suffered fractured ribs, and the man had injuries to his abdomen, right leg, and his back. Two other people on the ride at the time received minor injuries, but did not need treatment. The second car in the ride is thought to have hit the front carriage and knocked it off the rails, but inquiries are still continuing into the exact cause of the accident. Cerberus
Is their side-friction type water coaster (Lumberjack Falls) still operating? That's the only one I can imagine would actually fall off its rail in an accident. Disney's California Screamin' news made it worldwide- but this is a little beach park so we're unlikely to even hear which ride it happened on Cerberus

tinhead
Is their side-friction type water coaster (Lumberjack Falls) still operating? Cerberus Yes it is still operating and felt a lot safer to ride than Pepsi Loop, their looping Pinfari which is in a very bad condition.

verticalzero
Don't all coasters have "Upstop" wheels so the coaster does not come off the track..?
