Airtime&Gravity Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I know the park has had trouble before, but now it looks like this might be another park to close. Hopefully some company can pick it up and turn it around, as it looks like it has some potential. Freestyle Music Park: Spain anyone? Información newspaper reports that the regional government does not want to spend any more money It seems the efforts to try to avoid the financial collapse of the Terra Mítica attractions park in Benidorm could be at an end, with reports in the Información newspaper today saying that top members of the Regional Government have started contacts to try and sell the site. However reports indicate the private companies with whom contacts have been made are refusing to pay for the park, but have offered to take it on for free. The local paper considers the park was opened after an excessive investment and since then some of its assets have had to be sold off to avoid bankruptcy. 2007 saw it operating in the black, but the economic crisis since then has brought matters to a head. It’s understood the Bancaja and Caja Mediterráneo savings banks have been putting some pressure on the board to try and get the park sold. Link
Koolkid Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Oh this is sad, I actually thought it was a great litle, well themed park. Thing is they didn't really have a star ride. I was going to visit it this summer
andyuk200523 Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I am not really surprised, the park never really seems to be busy, last time I went was at the beginning of the summer and it was absolutly dead, so much so I had to wait for 30 minutes for Inferno...........not because of a queue, but waiting for another person to join me as you have to ride as a pair!!!!!!!!!!!! And lets face it Magnus Collossus was just plain and utter PAIN!!!!!!!!! Apart from this though, it was a nice pleasant little park.
Movieguy Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Oh man. I've seen videos from that place, and I always wanted to check it out at some point. Such a shame, a well maintained park having to close down. It's Spain's "Freedomland" now, I suppose.
RCFreak Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 NOOOOOOO not El laberinto del Minotauro! lol That was one freaking awesome Sally Shooter. I would be sad if this park did end up going under, but when we were at the park in 2007 it really didn't seem that busy either. it's a really u nique park that was pretty well themed and it would be a shame to lose all the rides.
