I hope it's not problem that I'm making a topic for this...

I'm visiting SFMM this year for the first time on July 20 and SFHH on July 21 (I'm from Belgium).

We'll be staying in Santa Clarita Motel

Santa Clarita Motel

24971 Railroad Ave Santa Clarita , CA 91321

1) We don't have a car or anything, so we'll have to go by foot to find some dinner when we come back from SFMM. What are some good pizza/burger places in a walking distance (30 minutes max) of my hotel? What price range?

2) Is there also a place to have good breakfast cheap?

3) If anyone would be down to pick me up on July 20 in the evening, and drive me to the Santa Clarita Motel, that would be freaking awesome. if not, no problem of course. I'm with my girlfriend and we'd be down to pay a slight amount of money, or give you a Belgian present or something like that!

4) Any info on what the taxi price would be for a ride from SFMM to my hotel in the evening?

Thanks in advance!

Can you stay at any other hotel?

That hotel is really bad, and in a bad area.

There is no real food around it, and it would be a VERY LONG HOT WALK!!!

There are also not a lot of taxi's in Santa Clarita. You'll have to call a company.

There are many other hotels in much nicer areas much closer to the park and food.

Holiday Inn Express

Best Western Valencia

La Quinta

A bunch of Marriott Properties

Hilton Garden Inn

Seriously, rethink that motel.

Strange, cause I only read positive things about this motel... Thanks for the info though!

We'll use public transport to go to the parc, but in the evening there isn't any PT anymore

Public Transportation is a joke in Southern California. It will take you forever. Spend a bit more and stay at one of the hotels very close to the park. It will be worth it.

Here are some reviews of the Santa Clarita Motel: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g33047-d77990-Reviews-Santa_Clarita_Motel-Santa_Clarita_California.html

You'll see things like 'gross', 'no food around', 'bad area at night', etc.

If you stay right near the park , you will probably pay at least $80-$100 dollars a night. Those hotels are expensive, but some have food and transportation to the park, so it may balance itself out, especially if you have no car.

In July, it's going to be at least $120 for a hotel right at the park.

I would still pay that over staying at the Santa Clarita Motel.

Thanks for the infos!

I read those reviews and the ones from the last 2 years are very positive, but I think your opinion is important, cause you live in the area!

I measured the distance, and that could be a problem indeed. And I don't like the 'bad area at night either'

Let's say we stay in the Best Western Valencia Inn.

How long would we have to walk to SFMM? And to get some food?

Google Maps tells me there's a Johnny Rockets nearby? Any other places?

If you stay at the Best Western Valencia, it would probably be about a 15 - 20 minute walk up to the park. There are not sidewalks the whole way, just so you know, but people do the walk all the time.

In the parking lot of the Best Western is a Denny's. There are also a Starbucks, Pizza Place, Japanese Place, Italian Place, Quiznos, etc. about a 3 minute walk away.

It's also a very safe area. About a 10 - 15 minute walk from the Best Western is anything you could ever want or need (Big Mall, Movies, Target, Every chain food on Earth, etc.)

Thanks!

I'm thinking about booking that one instead! Walk + food + safe area seems pretty interesting and worth the 25 extra dollars PP.

About getting there, cause we're coming from Burbank L.A., taking the train.

I guess we have to take the Antelope Valley Line to Princessa Via and then take bus 3 from the westfield valencia town center to SFMM and then walk back. Or take one stop earlier.

Thanks for the help! I feel like such a nitwit, haha.

^We're here to help! Don't worry at all!

I really believe you'll have a MUCH better time staying at the Best Western than the other motel. Plus the $25 more you'll spend on the hotel will easily be made back by not having to take a taxi at night!

I'm not really familiar with my own home's bus system, but that route from the Via Princessa train station sounds really wonky all around.

If you're taking the Metrolink from Burbank, see if the bus can pick you up from the Metrolink station on Commuter Way and bring you over to Westfield Valencia Town Center (our mall), or the SFMM area, or the a stop on Tourney Rd. somewhere (this would be 5 minutes walk away from your hotel). That would be a much more direct route to your hotel than the one you described.

I can't remember exactly where the Best Western is but I believe it's in the same area as In-N-Out. That's one thing you must do in California, eat at In-N-Out.

They are doing construction everywhere on Magic Mountain Parkway so beware of that.
