monsterfan99
Hey everyone. I am looking for any recommendations of a web host for a windows based site. I am looking at starting a coaster photo site to build my web building skills and to give my fiancee a reason for taking 200 plus pics per theme park trip . I also remember some sites during the last five years have kept my intrest in coasters. If I can do that for anyone, it is worth the effort. I have never had a website before and clueless on which servers are good and which suck. Just looking for any info out there. Thanks
Wes
I use midphase.com for website hosting. Relatively cheap and extremely good reliability.
DenDen
keatealphonse"]bluehost is cheap and best I use Bluehost, and have been with them for about 3 years now, I'm completely happy, it really is unlimited badwidth and storage. (I run a video site!) But I'm a Unix guy, and not a fan of IIS, so I am not sure if they're any good for that.
MG
Are you sure you need it to be Windows? What I started out with was a free host from X10 Hosting (CLICKY). I then installed Content Management AKA Joomla! There are loads of different things like this, Wordpress, Joomla etc. I'm sure there will be a Web Software package for you, which you can easily install through Fantastico, a sort of Program control panel just like in Windows. For a Free account, without Ads X10 Hosting will give you 500 MBs space and 1GB bandwidth. However if you have Ads that can increase by a lot. You can also pay for different upgrades, I think Windows is actually one of the available upgrades. On the Free accounts, X10 can sometimes be a bit unreliable, it's luck of the draw which server you are on. For an example of what you can do with free tools, you can look at my Young Enterprise website which I created http://www.avant.elementfx.com Hope this helps! GivenOneChance
I recommend Bluehost.com I used them for 12 months. And was pleased with their customer support (don't even need to call them, you can contact them web-based, live, etc). Plus I thought the quality of the service was well. Good luck with your endeavor.

CoasterFanatic
CoasterFanatics.Com is on Dotster and has been down for about 30 minutes in the last 2 years. ... plus they are super cheap.
monsterfan99
Thanks for the advice everyone. I ended up going with WebzPro for 3 months to see how it is. So far, the customer service has helped me greatly and ultra fast. Now if only I can get the motivation to put in the work on the site
generaleclectic
Monster Fan: Do you have any follow-up on this? I'm looking for the same thing. I'm in the initial planning stages for a musicians forum for Coastal Empire/Low Country. Trying to decide whether or not to do a forum similar to TPR or a Joomala site.
