Hey Robb!

Have you heard of that new portable game system from Nintendo called the DSi? It's supposed to be an advanced version of the DS lite with some really cool features. I'm sure many people have heard of it, so I was just wondering if you, Elissa, or anyone reading this thread is considering getting one since you guys really like the Wii. (I like it too!)

I preordered mine in black and I can't wait to get it!!

We've had several of them in the office for months. They really are a great little system!

I think everyone's biggest issue is the lack of GBA support, but it makes sense as Nintendo wants to transition away from GBA and move forward on the DS.

I think the additional wi-fi capabilities could be very cool and the addition of the DSi store will be cool for new downloadable games at a cheap price.

In short, it's a very cool system and a really nice "upgrade" to the original DS.

I just got a DS Lite not too long ago so I won't be getting a DSi any time soon. Not to mention I still play GBA games on my DS.

I personally think Nintendo releases new portable hardware too quickly. Either that or portable gaming software evolves too quickly.

^I think if that were the case then they would have called it an entirely different system. What the guy probably meant was some of the features in the new games won't work for the older DS' that don't have the capability of whatever the game needs off of the DSi.

I got it in black now! I have to say, it is worth buying if you liked the DS, everything on it is brand new and just awesome! If you wanted to look at it, just get it. Anyone who likes to have fun with video games will be stoked by the whole experience.

^^Yeah, he probably means that some of the things on the system (such as the camera, sound app, and DSi Store) won't work on the DS, but things like the new color font on PictoChat will work.

The orignal Nintendo DS was released in 2004, the DS Lite came out in 2006, which was exactly the same system as the DS just "sexier."

The DSi is basically a DS with a few added features minus the GBA cartridge port. It's the first "new hardward" since the DS first came out 5 years ago, and technically it's not really "new" just an upgrade.

All your Nintendo DS games will play on your DSi.

The DS has already had a lifespan of 5 years and I'm sure the DSi will prolong that at least another 2-3 years before we'll see any "new" hardware from Nintendo.

I don't agree that Nintendo releases new hardware too quickly. In fact, as a developer I'd say they don't release new hardware quick enough!

Does anybody know what's gonna happen to the older DS games that require the GBA slot (like GHWT) and if they're gonna make these games compatible with the new DSi?

^By what I know, since the DSi doesn't have the GBA slot, you can't use those games. It sucks, but I'm sure they'll come up with some GBA adapter for the DSi with all the criticism for not having it.

If they invented a Guitar Hero for the DSi, it would probably link from the DS game slot and curve around to the bottem. Then some locks may secure it so it won't undo itself. That would solve the problem of the Guitar Grip coming out. Robb (since you work for Nintendo) ask the guys there if they can come up with something like that!

They will not be coming up with a GBA adapter and it really hasn't been receiving that much criticism for not having it.

Something cool for the DSi I only recently discovered, but it turns out there is a DSiWare game called Warioware: Snapped which makes use of the inbuilt camera to play the microgames:

What makes it funny is that the interlude between the microgames is themed to being on a roller coaster, and when you fail at a game the coaster has a rollback (see 2:40)

Yes, it is quite a bit of fun! I've had it since the day I got the DSi, and it's a fun little game! Of course, it takes pictures and puts them in really weird scenes to make you look retarded or weird or something..... Like it may show you kissing somebody (it could go either way) or just posing funny. But then it shows your pictures on the top screen and plays them to make you look like your moving. It's just an interesting game that I really enjoy!
