Ok, this was my first attempt at a custom senario park. I have played RCT for a good while and have done great with achieving the "goals" in the pre set senarios. I picked up RCT2 a while back and had been working on it when I came across the TPR forums. I habve been amazed at what you all have come up with with theming and designs. This park includes my first attemps at buildings other than the stalls and stands and ride entrances that are standard........

So now on with the park.... and be gentle

Phoenix Park

Old Towne park was once a thriving local park, but ownership changed hands and the new owners didn't have the resources they thought they would have. The local community bought the land as it ajoined land that was planned for an entertainment complex.

Local leaders got in over thier heads with the planning and the cost estimates soon made the project a burden on the taxpayers. During this time the rides at Old Towne sat and continued to decay.

Three years passed and an entertainment company was brought in to make the project happen. At this point a grassroots effort was underway to save the Old Towne park rides in hopes that this new company would incorpoate the rides into the new venue.

A community wide naming contest was held for the project and the name that was chosen was "Phoenix Park"....... Old Towne rising once again.......

Not bad for a first, but look at other parks for tips and such. I would raise the pirate ship to 0ft. Add more trees, and make more buildings. Need any help PM me, ghost, or DBru (they should be able to help you start off in a good way)

The park actually looks pretty nice, especially for it being your first themed park.

Go to www.brandonscoasters.com/contest1.htm

And download the park scenario. This is all the basic custom scenery you will need, although, if you are looking for something specific I suggest using

RCTmart.com

As for the theming of this particular park.

Make your own ride stations. They can be simple if you want, but they really help the ride look nice or tell a story.

You seem to be pretty skilled at landscaping, especially for a beginner. There are basic trainers such as Son of Beast and the 8 cars trainer that have mountain tools to landscape faster as well as other awesome utilities. Also, don't just use one kind of tree in the same place.

As far as layouts go there is not much to see, but the triple helix in the bottom right corner of the first picture, is very unrealistic, especially for the wooden coaster.

My last piece of advice is to practice a lot. If you look at my first posted parks, they are awful, but as I practiced I started to get better. I would now say I am at least good(not the best)but my parks look nice, and I get good comments.

The Keep up the good work, and welcome to the world of RCT2(probabky the geekiest thing I have ever said) Ghost

Hey Thanks for the input guys. I will post some more from this park. I have gone as far as I can on it. I didn't set things up to well to start, but that is part of the learning process.

I have started doing more with the stations in my second park.

My thought for the pirate ship was ind of a sunken thing......

I have defiantely been working and praticing on things and hopefully my skills will get better.

Ok, here's a shot of the new Woodie and the Steel coasters at Phoenix Park as well as some of the work that has gone into revitalizing "Old Towne" which will now be an area of the new park.

Ummm, no offense, but did you take any of my advice what so ever. You said you have been practicing, but everything looks the same. Seriously take the advice, I have been playing RCT2 for a LONG time, and if you want to get better, the things said 2 posts up or 3 posts up will help you.

Like I said, I have taken this one as far as I can. Just wanted to get it out here for the comments. I have a second park that I have been working on using some things that I have picked up in looking at everyone else's parks.

It had only ever occured to me to accomplish the goals set into the game. having a way to set things up from scratch has been really cool and the more I work with it the more I learn....... They have been as much fun as working on the parks themselves. Believe me I will look at what everyone has suggested and learn from it.

Thanks again for the comments.

Coming from an RCT veteran (10 years) I liked it, I mean it wasn't too special. It just showed what your creditals were and how far you could take a park.

I thought what I saw was great, and really keep it up! Work on parks long enough, and you'll be up in the ranks with the rest of the vets!

Good work!

OK. No offense, your trying to make yourself sound like RCT came second nature to you all along. You were at the same point last year that Xizor_Racer is at now. Hell, you couldn't even finish your parks. Encourage the park builder in nice ways. Don't be offended when people don't do things you suggest, especially in a game like RCT.

BTW, your park is better than anything I could ever create in RCT. Keep it up! You'll achieve your RCT goals!

Yeah, sorry about that. I was just a little frustrated with this GIGANIC project for school, and came off sounding really harsh. The park does look really good for a first attempt, and I am really looking forward to your second attempt.

Well the only thing I can contribute is DL some parks for cs and extra rides, Start a new park and stick to it because nobody likes someone who clutters the forums with park that hardly start and then say I'll start another park because I don't like it anymore. Best thing you need to learn is to have patience with your designs and what you build, look at other people's parks and learn from it. For example look at my park(I don't want to sound selfcentered here) Its also my first park on the forums, I've put a lot of time in it so far and its far from complete. But I'm not someone who's gonna say "great work man, keep it up" when its not so I don't want people to say its great when its not about my own work, I myself take a lot of time to build my park and accept it when people don't like it or say its bad, it helps me get better. So just have patience in what you build, get some good cs and other stuff that can help you along and learn from your own and from other people's mistakes, if you do just that I bet you're gonna turn out making good parks in the future
