Came home from school, and decided to walk one block past my house and go see this little thing... called the COMMISSIONERS TROPHY!

So it was like held at the Chickie and Petes which is a block from my house... literally. The place was mobbed as anything, but I managed to go see and check out the trophy and head out in less then twenty minutes. Also got a red bull. Check the photos!

Not to take away from your experience ('cause I know you enjoyed it), but as a big sports fan, that trophy bores me (and I was offered the chance to hold the Marlins' one after their first WS, but passed on it). Perhaps it's just me, but along with the Commish's Trophy, the Lombardi, and the Larry O'Brien are boring. Nothing in sports even comes close to the Stanley Cup. Okay, maybe owning a Green Jacket. Other than that, there's just nothing "personal" about all the rest. Am I the only one?

I agree with you on that sense. All the trophies in sports mean nothing in basically "wowness" compared to the Stanley Cup. The commissioners trophy was also a LOT smaller then what I thought it would be. I've saw the Stanley Cup back when the Devils won it (ugh, hate them..) and that is the most beautiful and stunning trophy you will ever witness. It is the biggest trophy I've ever seen in my life.

But at the same time, that commissioners trophy is symbolic, especially when your team wins it. Since I waited my entire life to see not just a Phillies championship, but one of my teams to win a championship, it almost becomes a holy emblem if you know what I mean.

Look at this way; I've waited to see either the Phillies, Flyers, or Eagles bring home a championship. About damn time I can finally celebrate a little!

^ I hear ya. And I can understand how many fans "connect" with it. To me, the banner is more symbolic than any of those trophies though. At least when you go to any of your teams' home games in the years following their win(s), you can still see the banner(s) hanging. The trophy isn't always in view.

Lord Stanley's Cup is pretty awesome. I got a pictre taken with it back when the Hurricanes won it in 2006, and a buddy of mine who is wheelchair bound was actually handed the cup to hold (Lucky Bastard!).

Besides the actual trophy being better, the fact that each player get to take it home or wherever they wish for a few days is even better. What other trophy can you drink alcohol from and be pround of it?

I was shopping at the Montgomery Mall in Montgomeryville a couple Saturday's ago and the trophy was there. I couldn't believe how many people were there in Phillies stuff just for the trophy. The Phanatic was there, and I just assumed that there were a couple of players there signing stuff. When I looked down to the first level, and all I saw was a trophy, and a 2 hour line to get to it, I was in shock.

It will be across the street from my house on Saturday, at the Henning's supermarket in Harleysville if anyone is near and interested in going there to see it.
