Xtreme-me
So, I went to haunt last year and Loved it and so This year it was a must! We decided to head over as early as possible to the event and so opening weekend seemed like a good time! I went through all of the mazes except Lost Vegas (Because that one is totally worthless). Also, one of the guys in the group's cousin was a monster that was off duty and walking around with us and telling me all about the haunt all night which was amazing. I Learned soooo much! and it was awesome. heres my rundown of the mazes... The Asylum - This was the first thing we did once we got into the park. Last year, I was way to chicken to go into this maze and it wasn't really that bad at all. There were a few disturbing things but it didn't have a real "Scary" factor to it for me. on a scale of 1 being terrible and 10 being absolutely freaky and wonderful, this maze got a 4 out of 10 Club Blood - you have to get through the Asylum to get to club blood which is unfortunately a strangely boring. The only cool thing about this maze is the pole dancers and the song playing in that room (Does anyone know what it is by the way?) This maze can be skipped if lines are long. 2 out of 10 The Doll Factory - Twas Next after a quick ride on Silver bullet (20 minute wait!) I absolutely LOVED this maze. It was weird, creepy and just weird. The Dolls inside did a fantastic job and Jill (The lifelike doll girl) was AMAZING. I took a picture with her because the worker that I was with was in the doll factory last year and she knew everyone. It was awesome 9 out of 10 for me (Some people may say it was worse than last year but whatever, I loved it...) 13 Axe Murder Manor - Whatever is the only thing I have to say. It was cool but we had to move REALLY fast so I didn't really get that scared or intimidated. It did have great scenery though... 7 out of 10 from me... Killer Clown College - Lost Vegas was a SKIP and then we went to Killer Clown College which was pretty lame. Definitely not great and missable if you are pressed for time. It was fun though so I give it a 6 out of 10 After this, Xcelerator began to test and I really wanted to ride it but the other people in my group thought that it was going to be forever until it opened but the phone rang and then they opened up the ride! Me and a friend of mine were the first people in line and so we rode in the front seat with no wait at all!!! It was amazing. After that we did Supreme scream and then it was cornstalkers time Cornstalkers - A fun maze, not that scary to though. Everyone else was more freaked out but it didn't scare me at all really. It was intimidating though. It gets and 8 out of 10 because it scared everyone else in my group alot Quarantine - This maze was the powerhouse of haunt. Realistic, short and scary beyond belief. Everything was so realistic looking that it felt even scarier. its really awesome and is definitely not to be missed. 10 out of 10 from me Slaughterhouse - Disturbing and Disgusting are the two best ways to describe this maze. Its nasty and gruesome and not in a good way. The things hanging down from the ceiling that are supposed to be intestines pull out and on your hair and it hurts really bad. Theres a part where one of the props squirts water on you and it scared the bejesus out of me so watch out. The audio track is what really scared me for this one. It was so disturbing and freaky. I still have some of it running through my head. From a scare perspective, it gets a 9 out of 10, from a quality perspective it gets a 7 out of 10 Alien Annialation - Looked wimpy but the monsters were trying really hard to scare people and it worked pretty well actually. I liked it and they got a few good scares in on me! It gets a 8 out of 10 The Labyrinth - Awesome, Picturesque, fun, Awe-inspiring are some of the words I have for this one. I really liked it and it was scary and yet still fun. Definitely dont miss it! 9 out of 10 from me I didnt do Pyromaniax or Black widows cavern because the line was huge, but I did Do Cornstalkers, The Doll Factory and Quarantine again because I really liked all of those All in all, the night was amazing and I urge everyone to go and check it out! Its an awesome event and really fun. Thanks for reading and I hope to have some pictures up soon!!!
downunder
Great report, I'm so envious I really want to do Halloween at places like Knott's. Damn that Pacific Ocean between me and Knott's.
TheRealTinkerbell
I went on Saturday as well. Since I'm really not a maze person, I didn't go into all of them. I did go to Killer Clown Kollege, which was hilarious! They had transvestite clowns with squeaky boobs. What more do you want! Also, I loved the soundtrack in it, although after the second time going in that maze, it really gets stuck in your head. Last year I heard that Lost Vegas sucked so I didn't even waste my time, but I decided since the line was short, I'd do it. Boy did I have fun. I guess it's because one of the less scarier mazes and one of the funnier ones, I liked it a whole lot. I've never had so much fun in a maze! THEY HAD A STRIPPER POLE and this chick was dancing and this little old man popped out and started dancing with me. I don't want to give too much away of it for people that haven't gone in it, but there was this room that i couldn't tell if the girl was real or not and I accidentally gropped her pretty hardcore. I begged for her forgiveness, but she couldn't stop laughing at my re-action to actually forgive me. BOOB CREDIT! Unfortunately, the people I was with wanted to watch that show Fangs, which replaced Hax. PLEASE AVOID THAT SHOW! IT'S HORRIBLE BEYOND BELIEF! The jokes were okay, but the singing and the dancing was TERRIBLE! Honestly, this was torture sitting through it. Almost as much torture as having to watch a Hannah Montana Marathon! The Hanging this year actually surprised me. Last year I was so bored with it, and it just plain pissed me off. But this year, they really got some good ones in it! I actually found myself LOLing at a lot of the jokes. Annnnnd, this year, they didn't make that much fun of Disneyland, which I think made room for a lot of better jokes. But the ending was like WTF!? Honestly? Oh I guess. Carnevil was really funny. Sadly I only caught the last 10 minutes of it, but the last trick was freakin awesome! I'm still kind of puzzled as to how they pulled it off! PYROMANIAX was the best ride made into a maze I've ever been on. The soundtrack was AWESOME(It was a Prodigy song) and people popped out of places I had never thought was possible! It was a constant everywhere you turn you get a good scare thing, which I really liked! This was the only place though that I saw shaker cans! No walking characters had them, and I didn't hear them at all till I got on Pyro. Is Knott's finally realizing that shaker cans aren't as scary as they sound?! Kudos Knotts! But I may just be speaking too soon. Maybe they'll pop them out when it gets a little bit more crowded. Also, it felt like they were a bit understaffed. I mean, I understand it was the first weekend and all, and maybe with the fact that they made Ghost Town in to one HUGE scare Zone and reduced one from last year, it honestly seemed to me that they were lacking in Talents this year. There was a point in the night where I found myself SEARCHING for Scareactors. Hopefully this'll get a little better towards the middle or the season. Now, if someone knows this, please answer this(I know ithis is long, I'm getting done I promise), but WHERE THE HELL WERE THE CHAINSAWS?! I saw 1 and heard only 2! I was honestly depressed. Like I got in the car, and was like something was missing this year. The chainsaws! WTF! I even sat in the usual "you're bound to see people getting chased with chainsaws here" area, but nope, NONE! What happened?! Overall, I was pleased. I mean, Knott's is fun, but, this year it kind of seems like...it's below par as the past years.
gotdane
Went to Haunt last night and actually had an AMAZING time...That's way better than years past. It helped that the park was pretty dead, too (pun intended)... Got to the park at 7pm. It was still kind of light out so instead of hitting the first maze we saw (Slaughterhouse) we decided to ride Silver Bullet first. (2 trains, no wait) I don't ever remember riding in the back row but it kicked butt. Silver Bullet grows on me more and more every time I ride it. So much fun. We hit up Black Widows Cavern next, while waiting for it to get dark since its basically all inside. The best part was when you kind of picked up speed before heading outside for the first time. There were lots of scares in quick succession all along the train which was great. Next was Pyromaniax. All this is missing is actual fire. Its lots of fun with some great scares. I just wish they could pull off some real fire SOMEWHERE in the ride. With it now being completely dark we headed back towards Killer Clown Kollege. I don't remember any great scares going thru this maze but I like it just cause of all the silly humor. Xcelerator was down for the night so we hit up Supreme Scream next. 2 towers, no wait. Quarantine was up next. It was ok. Some good sets and I liked the first room but the timing wasn't so great and no one really got the scare. Weren't really any monsters, just people who actually looked almost normal. Way too short also. Corn Stalkers was next. Great maze. I didn't get any real scares myself but there was great potential everywhere. Loved some of the costumes. Montezooma's Revenge was great as always. No wait. Next we walked around to The Labyrinth. No scares for us thru the whole maze. Just a cool soundtrack. The rock monster thing was pretty neat though. We hit up Sierra Sidewinder next. 2 trains, no wait. The Slaughterhouse was next. I don't really remember much of this maze other than the girls whining for you to help them escape. After doing half the mazes and a couple rides in the first hour and a half, we decided to walk back to Ghoul Time Theater for the 8:30 showing of FANGS. Interesting show. Wasn't really fully fleshed out story wise and randomly broke out into some songs. Hot vampire dancing babes though. And some explosions, so it was worth my time. Lost Vegas was next...Nothing exciting here. 13 Axe Murder Manor was good throughout the house...then it was like a walk to the exit after you left the manor with not much happening. The Doll Factory was creepy and fun and had some cool sets. It was now time for the 9:30 Hanging. I thought the choice was interesting and the joke about not driving to HHN was good. Better than the last few I remember. The Asylum and Club Blood were next. Both up towards the top of the list for this years mazes. We hit up Ghostrider next. 2 trains, no wait. I have to say, this was the highlight of my night. No joke, our front seat ride was AMAZING. I loved it. I felt like good Ghostrider was back. I was a happy camper. We hit up Silver Bullet in the back row again. Rode Jaguar, just cause we had done everything else. Then caught Dr. Cleaver which was ridiculous. Then rounded out the night with two more rides on Ghostrider. In the front and in the back. The backseat ride was slightly brutal, but I didn't get off in pain, so that was good. Had a great time at Haunt! Looking forward to HHN Orlando in a couple weeks!
socalMAN123
^ The only reason Ghostrider was fun for you was because you were sitting in the front. That's the only place on the entire ride that hasn't changed since the old Ghostrider. Next time, try the last two cars. ---Brent
Jew
I thought the choice was interesting and the joke about not driving to HHN was good. That was a joke? I was quite disappointed that the only "joke" about HHN/Universal was practically a compliment.
TheRealTinkerbell
^ Let's not forget the Universal joke about the prop from King Kong that had a fire sale!
haiderodes
Next was Pyromaniax. All this is missing is actual fire. Its lots of fun with some great scares. I just wish they could pull off some real fire SOMEWHERE in the ride. I totally agree that fire would be awesome, but I'm not sure they'd wanna risk fire on that building. Jew
Most of the structure is still really old wood. Fire probably isn't the best thing to have anywhere near the log ride.
