My girlfriend will be studying in Spain for 3 months beginning in February and lasting until May. I plan on flying over there and traveling/sightseeing around Santander, Spain and neighboring countries for 2 weeks after her studies are through. While I am not certain I will visit a park while I am there, I figure I might as well have you guys talk me into one (or some) that might be worth a visit.

My local park is Carowinds so those who know the park, know how limited the ride selection is. Also, while I love roller coasters and theme parks in general, the only really large park I have been to is US:IoA and that was a while ago. Are there any "easter egg" coasters that I might want to ride (I dont keep track of credits but I love a great thrill) or an outstanding ride I cant afford to miss?

Thanks!

spain has four big parks, 2 of them located on the east side of the country next to the sea (port aventura and terra mittica) and you have two parks around madrid (parque warner and parque d'attractiones = PdA )

If you have the chance, visit Port aventura (PA) and the two parks in madrid. Terra mittica isn't bad but not as good as the other three!

PA is the nicest park of all three of them and has some nice rides! stampida (wooden), furius baco (launched intamin) and dragon kahn (b&m)

for the madrid area, i prefer parque warner more then PdA. you have an inverted b&m batman, the only floorless b&m in europe and the european deja-vu (inverted vekoma boomerang) altough PdA isn't bad. they have a cool maurer x car coaster called abismo and there's also a standard SLC coaster witch you also find in Terra Mittica.

I would take cfc's advice. Check through TPR's Spain report first, then come back here and ask some questions after having looked through that.

While Santander is not really close to the above mentioned parks, I agree that your first choice should be a visit to PA

If you would visit Madrid, I recommend PW over PdA.

PA and PW are btw my 2 favorite parks in Europe. Excellent theming and great rides. And of course the spanish weather

Close to Santander there is not much to do or find for what concerns themeparks. Also to the north in France, you're not even close to themeparks. DLP and Asterix are about 8 hours driving from Santander.

Thanks for the quick responses! I have yet to navigate this site much more than the forum so I will do some searching around of the mentioned parks.

Im sure I will have more questions once I do some more research. Seems that the consensus thus far is that PA is a "must".
