Zenechai Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Your first SLC. You thinks it is crazy, until the second time your ride it you feel every single bump, grind and jerk. Sorry....not too familiar with ALL the abbreviations, though I've figured out most......SLC? ~Zen
cfc Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 ^A Vekoma Suspended Looping Coaster, although I prefer "Satan's Lousy Coaster." That being said, Kumali, a custom SLC, is pretty good.
nannerdw Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 My first ride on Boss was awesome, because I was not expecting all of those enormous drops. The next time I rode it, the rough section leading up to the MCBR was unbearable. ...and a ride that just gets better every time I ride it: Mindbender at SFOG
rcdude Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Most Vekoma coasters in my experience are cool the first time around, but after that are either uninteresting or painful. Space Mountain seems to be the only exception to this rule. I have yet to find a small coaster (less than 30 ft tall and 1000 ft long) that is fun for more than one circuit. Most aren't that great to start with, but none of them are fun to ride more than once. For a specific coaster, I would say Pony Express. The first time I rode, I thought it was cool because it was different. However, every other time I've gone on it I thought it was tame, short, and slightly uncomfortable.

It makes me sad to read stuff like this, but then, that IS my ride. Maybe when I get cross-trained and spend time away from it (maybe at Bullet or (God forbid) Rider), I'll be able to see it from a less defensive standpoint. But for now...STOP MAKING FUN OF MY BABY!!!!! Nah, it comes with the job....I've learned to accept it. ~Zen
Cavs Fan Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I rode Wicked Twister and loved it the first time and the second time. Now it is just boring. I assume that this is the same for all Intamin Impulse coasters... but you know what happens when you assume.
Dailey Enterprizes Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I can't see too many coasters fitting into this category because either I love or hate them forever from the first ride on. However, the only coaster that seems to get consistently worse for me is the Blue Streak at Conneaut Lake Park. I love old parks and all and even considering this coaster has been around for a long time I still find it boring. After the first drop it just skates along with rough transitions and no airtime. Good for Conneaut Lake Park if they get it running again, but I won't be standing in line to get on it when it opens. The sad thing is that I really wanted to like it.

I've never really been impressed or disappointed with a coaster on my ABSOLUTE FIRST RIDE (Rider being the exception..guhhh), but then again, most of my early coaster experience was about 10 years ago, so I don't really remember much of it. Maybe my retentive memory is better now. ~Zen
