zeke11793 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 So in early June I took a trip to North Carolina with my parents. Considering that we go there alot and kinda do the same thing, they promised me that they would take me to Carowinds. So anyway, the day we went to Carowinds was good. I had alot of fun there. The lines weren't that bad. Nighthawk and FSS had about a 30-40 minute line, but all the other lines were pretty much walk-ons. For the rides: -Nighthawk. It was fun, but kinda rough and HORRIBLE dispatch time. They would dispatch about every 4-5 minutes. -Vortex. It was fun, a little uncomfortable, but still very fun. I think I rode 3 times.. once in the front, once in the back.... and somewhere else... -Hurler. It takes the #1 spot for the roughest coaster I've been on. It was really rough. I really think I shouldn't of sat in the back seat.... but this was very rough, more rough than Gwazi IMO. -Ricochet. Standard wild mouse, so it was fun. -Carolina Cyclone. It was a fun ride, and not a rough as I was expected. -Carolina Goldrusher. Fun. -FSS. Stupidly long line. I didn't want to get wet either, considering it wasn't extremely hot outside. -Afterburn. Easily the best coaster of the day. I really enjoyed it. Rode it 4 times. -Fairly Odd Coaster. Alot of fun. I really thought it was very fun, especially in the back. I rode it 2 times in the back. -Runaway Reptar. Pretty rough for a kiddie coaster. And IMO was a little boring. After I rode Afterburn a couple of times, Collin (Coasterlvr_nc) quickly met up with me, so that was pretty cool. So after that I did a few flats and rode the sky tower, then left. I really enjoyed my day at Carowinds, and will hopefully visit it next time I go to NC to ride Thunder Road and Head Spin. If you read all that, wow, thanks! But if not, here are the pictures. And I'll end this TR with an artsy photo of the sky tower. Thans for reading! I had a really fun day at Carowinds, and it was cool meeting up with Collin. The famous North/South Carolina sign. (elissa ) Something isn't right here.... ^ After Runaway Reptar, we went on the got some pictures from the tower. A little rough, and kinda boring. (hey, look who's in front. ) Last coaster of the day. I thought this was a pretty fun ride This was next I like this picture alot, too. Short lines! we see you, waving dude awesome yes. The best. This was actually pretty fun. *Insert Cedar Fair trash can joke here* It's stupidly long line... FSS. Looks fun, but I think I'll pass. I didn't really care for it. Carolina Goldrusher. The only coaster my dad would get on. LOL. ^ It was a fun ride. Just a little rough, but not much. Carolina Cyclone. I really like this picture. Alot. If only that dang fence wasn't there... Ricochet was next. This ride was seriously too rough "oh crap...." Hurler was next... ^ I enjoyed it, but it was just a little uncomfortable... Vortex Fun, but pretty rough.... First was Nighthawk It was a 2 hour drive, but we got there!
dragsterfan420 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Cool TR. You're lucky to have 2 B&M's in your park.
zeke11793 Posted August 8, 2008 Author Posted August 8, 2008 ^ Thanks! Umm..... but what do you mean I have 2 B&M's in my park?
Coasterlvr_nc Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 quick meetup??? more like 5 seconds as I walked by meetup >.> But still nice nonetheless. I'm glad you had a good time at Carowinds tho ^.^
RollerNut Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 ^ Thanks! Umm..... but what do you mean I have 2 B&M's in my park? Carowinds has two B&Ms....Afterburn and Vortex.
dragsterfan420 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 ^ Thanks! Umm..... but what do you mean I have 2 B&M's in my park? I I'm sorry. For some reason I thought that was your home park. zeke11793 wrote: ^ Thanks! Umm..... but what do you mean I have 2 B&M's in my park? Carowinds has two B&Ms....Afterburn and Vortex. He's not from that park and that's why he was confused about my statement. I think he knows their's two B&M's their. He rode them!
astroworldfan1 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I really want to go to Carowinds. Is it worth it? From your P:TR, it looked worth it. Aswome P:TR! -Tatum
zeke11793 Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 Dragsterfan420: Lol, yea, that's why I was kinda confused. astroworldfan1: First, thanks! I think Carowinds is definitely worth it. It was a fun park with a good amount of good coasters and flats. And if you go on a weekday, you should have minimal lines. I definitely recommend it!
CoastersNSich Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Very good stuff. Sometimes, it's not too late to do a Photo TR. If count is important, and you plan on going back to Carowinds this year, I suggest doing Flying Super Saturator, since it is rumored to be taken out to make way for Geauga Lake's old Boomerang. Don't know if that's a downgrade or upgrade... And hopefully they'll be racing Thunder Road next time around. And I can say I'm very happy my park is FINALLY getting a B&M! And it's the kind I wanted the most! You may want to come up and ride Diamondback.
kraken613 Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Top Gun is worth going to Carowinds ALONE! Its one of the best B&M inverts out there.
zeke11793 Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 CoastersNSich: Thanks. I know I won't be going back, and I know I'm gonna miss the credit, but it just didn't seem to necessary to me. But I'm pretty sure I'll be there to try out the Boomerang. And of course I would love to go and ride Diamondback. kraken613: Yea, Afterburn was really good, definitely the best at the park, and it is the reason I wanted to go. But IMO Montu is still my favorite out of the 2.
