Speeddeamon128 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Today I was supposed to go to Dorney Park, but my friend could only go to GADV. This is going to be a quick report because the lines were HUGE & I only got 10 coaster rides in (even with Flash Pass) & El Toro wasn't even working First ride of the day is Nitro! The best ride at GADV not named El Toro The Dark Knight was next. I think it was a waste of money & I miss Chiller Great American Scream Machine was ridden 2x in a row! There is NO Airtime on Rolling Thunder!!!!! After Kingda Ka broke down I got on it for the 62x since it opened in 2005 I even needed the Flash Pass for Batman: The Ride Nitro broke down never got to ride it again today Great American Scream Machine was ridden 2x in a row again! Medusa was my last & 10th ride of the day as well as my 210th of the year! This is my last trip before TPRs Behemoth/Ravine Flyer II Trip so I'll be back in about 3 weeks with all of my photo updates because I'm on the East Coast Trip as well Watch the video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upKZNIH1u1I Day Conclusion Nitro=1 Dark Knight=1 Great American Scream Machine=4 Rolling Thunder (Right)=1 Kingda Ka=1 Batman: The Ride=1 Medusa=1
YoshiFan Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Sounds like it was very crowded for a weekday. I guess El Toro closed made lines longer. It's a shame you weren't able to get to Dorney instead as lines would have not been nearly as bad. I went last Monday and all coasters were less than 5 minute waits except the Wild Mouse.
Speeddeamon128 Posted July 29, 2008 Author Posted July 29, 2008 Yeah, now I have to ride Voodoo as a new credit (which I was hoping ride before the ECT) on the East Coast Trip, oh well. How was that by the way? Oh El Toro was closed because it got struck by lightning the night before which messed it up more today a ride opp told me.
YoshiFan Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 The launch isn't that strong, especially when compared to Kingda Ka but it's a fun ride, especially going up the back spike and on the 2nd trip up the back spike the holding brake adds to the thrill. It didn't replace Talon as my favorite coaster in the park but it is a good addition to Dorney.
Superman06 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Wow but that's the norm for SFGA for lines and crowds. I went last wednesday and the park was EMPTY! Guess I got lucky they were calling for rain all day. I got 15 rides in without flashpass. my ride count El Toro-2 (walkon in the morning) Rolling Thunder-2(1 on each side) (walkon) Kingda Ka-1 (20 min wait) Medusa-2 (walkon) Runaway Train-1 (walkon) Batman-2 (walkon) Nitro-2 (walkon) Scream Machine-1 (walkon) Skull Mountain-1 (walkon) Superman-1 (20 min wait) I had never been at SFGA and seen Batman or Nitro as walkons. I got there at open and was done by 4pm. I went back to hit El Toro again but it was broke down so I left.
Speeddeamon128 Posted July 29, 2008 Author Posted July 29, 2008 Wow you really got lucky & you didn't waste money on a Flash Pass! Usually when the weather forecast predicts rain that is the best time to go.

I don't think any launches are strong after you've ridden Kingda Ka My favorite ride at Dorney is Steel Force because I'm a hyper fan but Talon is next!
Hercules Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 I can name about 3 coasters that have more intense launches than Kingda Ka, but that is just me. Nice little report. The Dark Knight is saving the park a lot more money than having Chiller still around that is for sure.
CHILLERLC1 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I can imagine how much cheaper the utility bill is without CHILLER.
